    Description

    The Dane County Regional Airport is recruiting for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Electronic Systems Specialist.

    DEFINITION

    Under general supervision from the Executive Deputy Airport Director and under guidance of the Lead Electronic Systems Specialist inspect, manage, maintain, install, troubleshoot and repair Airport electronics hardware, software and infrastructure. Coordinate and communicate with the Dane County Information Management, Airport tenants and contractors, and perform other duties as assigned.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
    Inspect configure and maintain proprietary Airport electronic systems including but not limited to access control systems (ACS) and video recording systems (VRS). Install configure, troubleshoot, repair and document changes to Airport electronic systems. Observe and verify compliance of tenant contractor and third party electronic installations. Take direction from the Lead Electronic Systems Specialist.

    Education, Experience & Special Requirements

    Education, Training and Experience:
    Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree in Electronics or related field, and three (3) years of experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electronic microprocessor based systems.

    Special Requirements:
    Must have a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Candidates who reach the final selection stage will be subject to an FBI criminal history records check, TSA security assessment and employment history verification. Must be available for work at any time including nights, holidays and weekends for airport emergencies. May require being on-call.

    Background Check Statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. Wisconsin's Fair Employment Law, s , Wis. Stats., prohibits discrimination because of an arrest or conviction record.     Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:
    Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to stand, move, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and work outside. Ability to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective devices. Sufficient manual dexterity to permit employee to use hand and power tools and install parts and equipment. Work may occasionally be performed outside in extreme temperatures and/or in loud and dusty environments or confined spaces.
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software, LAN/WAN concepts, TCP/IP protocols and network printer systems. Working knowledge of Access Control Systems (ACS) and Video Recording Systems (VRS). Possession of effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to design and implement systems from existing equipment to new equipment.

    Bilingual Pay: Employees who work in bilingual designated positions receive an additional $2.00 per hour.

    Undesirable Hours Premium Pay: Employees may receive undesirable hours pay of $2.00 for anytime worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m and for anytime on Saturday and/or Sunday. (not applicable with all employee groups).

    Paid Parental Leave: Dane County also provides 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birth or adoption of a child.

    Caregiver Leave: Dane County offers 80 hours of paid leave to care for an ill family member.

    Telecommuting: Telecommuting allows employees to work remotely for all or part of their workweek. Dane County considers telecommuting to be a viable, flexible option when both the employee and the job are suited to such an arrangement. Dane County will permit telecommuting when it benefits the productivity of the employee and their department and if determined by employee's department that telecommuting is not detrimental to either the County or the employee.

    Student Loan Forgiveness: If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization, you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

    WI Retirement System: Employees hired after must be expected to work a minimum of 1200 hours annually to be enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement System when hired.

    THIS QUESTION IS GRADEDThis position is responsible for maintaining proprietary airport systems such as: security access control, flight, gate and baggage information systems, airfield condition and Notice to Airmen reporting, runway pavement monitoring, automated public address, time keeping and payroll, building automation systems, digital photography, etc. Also, provides computer systems and hardware/software support.Please describe your knowledge, training and experience with automated airport systems described above, including general HVAC systems. Please include experience dealing with preventive maintenance and handling system side failures resulting from severe weather, power outages or extraordinary events. Note: Airport type systems experience in a different setting will be considered. Also, include any preparation of technical reports and recordkeeping related to system maintenance. Be specific as to dates, responsibilities including systems, job titles and duration of experience.

    THIS QUESTION IS GRADEDAnother key role of this position is to maintain wireless and wired networks and communications systems at the Airport. The varied duties include: providing technical hardware and software support for airport WI-FI system, programming telephone system needs, management of the Private Branch Exchange based telephone system, managing and maintenance of the radio program.
