    PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Signing Bonus: New employees are eligible for a $1,500 bonus; with $750 paid on the first payroll, and $750 paid upon completion of six (6) month introductory period from hire date.

    Salary to be commensurate with experience.
    The Hiring range for this position is $24.87-$31.09/Hourly

    Position Overview:

    Located in the Housing and Community Services Departments, under the supervision of the Homeless Outreach Supervisor, the Homeless Program Liaison will be responsible for responding in a timely manner to reports of encampments. This position coordinates the City of Aurora's Unauthorized Camping Ordinance and helps coordinate cleanups

    PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Plan, coordinate and schedule cleanup operations at designated sites, including cleanup site identification, public notification, logistics, and planning and monitoring for specific sites.
    • Direct operations and oversee work performed by cross-functional teams composed of City employees and contract laborers, ensuring compliance with Unauthorized Camping Ordinance.
    • Maintain documentation and accurate records on status of encampments.
    • Maintain record of costs associated with encampment clean-up.
    • Attend encampment abatements to ensure smooth operations and provide support to outreach, contracted cleaning crews, and law enforcement.
    • Investigate reports of homeless encampments, including posting camp abatements. Respond in a timely manner to encampment-related reports/complaints from residents, City staff, and elected officials.
    • Identify, in accordance with City policy, which abandoned materials qualify as personal valuables and oversee proper collection and storage protocols.
    • Assess and respond to staff and homeless encampment resident safety concerns as they arise and engage with law enforcement and public health representatives as appropriate.
    • Direct communications with people experience homelessness.
    • During cold weather season, participate in Aurora Cold Weather Outreach Team, including being on-call.
    • Other duties as assigned
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

    An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

    Education
    • Associate degree in Business Management, Planning, Finance, Public Administration, Social Work or a related field
    Experience
    • 2-4 years' experience in program administration duties related to outreach, homelessness, or code enforcement, or other governmental work
    • At least 1 year of customer service experience responding to internal and external customers via telephone and email communication
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Bilingual in Spanish

    • This role is frequently outside and will encounter inclement weather, including heat, cold, snow, and rain.
    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    • Colorado Driver's License with a good driving history
    Essential Personnel:
    • When a local announcement of emergency is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
    Physical Demands:
    • Light physical work requiring the ability to lift 20 pounds
    • Occasional lifting and carrying of objects
    • Frequent walking and standing both indoors and outdoors
    • Some hand/eye coordination to operate a computer terminal
    • Vision to read and interpret reports and other written documents
    • Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communications with employees, partnering organizations, the business community and neighborhood groups
    Work Environment:
    • Works both indoors and outdoors in varying types of weather
    • May work in a dusty and/or noisy environment
    • Primarily field work with some office work
    Equipment Used:
    • This position may require the incumbent to regularly use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
