    Assistant/Associate Professor/Environmental Health

    Job Summary

    Provide classroom and laboratory instruction of graduate students, interns, and summer program students in the College of Veterinary Medicine and prepare MPH students to become professional practitioners in their chosen field of practice

    Essential Job Duties
    • Engage in creative and collaborative scholarship, research, and service activities in the College and across the University as One Tuskegee
    • Participate in the recruitment/advising/mentoring/nurturing of students
    • Teach a range of Public Health courses including, Introduction to Public Health, Environmental Health Sciences, Health Administration Policy & Law, Public Health Leadership & Emergency Management, Public Health Ethics, etc. using both face-to-face and online instruction methodologies at the graduate and undergraduate levels
    • Advise and mentor public health and other graduate students to ensure timely matriculation and successful completion
    • Integrate practice/research into instruction through various methods including incorporation of community-based application of theoretical models, inclusion of students in funded/unfunded research activities, and service-learning opportunities
    • Obtain competitive funding to suppolt health disparities research that demonstrates engagement of students, interdisciplinary partners, community-members, stakeholders, etc.
    • Publish peer-reviewed publications and present research in national/international fora
    • Advance research undertakings in the department/College/University by applying expertise in data analysis through the use of software (SAS, SPSS, EPINFO, GIS, @Risk, Adobe CC), systems tools, (agent-based models, closed loop diagrams) or other technology
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of community-based research principles and techniques.
    • Work with diverse populations and stakeholders in various public health settings
    • Engage service-learning opportunities for students that effectively integrate academically relevant service activities that address human and community needs
    • Provide technical assistance to community stakeholders and state and local agencies
    • Provide expertise to committees in the Department/College/University
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master of Public Health (MPH) preferred
    • DrPH or PhD preferred, other related terminal or professional degree in a Health or Policy related field (DDS, OD, PhD, MD, JD, etc.) (or evidence of completion date within 6 months)
    • Record of public health practice and research experience is required
