    Job Description:
    About the Role:The primary role of the Sr.

    Food Scientist is to independently leads the design, planning, validation, and implementation of new products, line extensions, product improvements and technical service for TreeHouse Foods that meet project objective(s) within the Griddle (Waffles & Pancakes) segment.

    The role will have responsibility for internal and co-manufacturing projects.
    Independently lead product development, documentation management, project management and commercialization initiativesIndependently formulate and execute development from bench to production scale for new products, product improvements and cost savings projectsCreate new prototypes for product development initiatives and identify, evaluate and approve potential ingredients and manufacturing suppliersIdentify opportunities for competitive market advantageApply sound scientific methods in all stages of development including planning and executing trials, analyzing data and defining solutions to achieve project goalsProvide judgment and experience to assure that an appropriate level of technical knowledge and discipline are being employed and utilized in business decisionsPartner and communicate effectively with cross-functional groups to provide technical expertise: Marketing, Sales, QA, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and Engineering; create and influence project direction by providing technical input through the planning and decision making processUnderstand product requirements, plant equipment and processes to enable the creation of detailed playbooks and specificationsEnsure the transfer of technology to the operations team when commercializing products; provide oversight of internal and external manufacturing start-ups and ongoing technical supportContribute significantly, directly and continually to attain results through the generation and application of advanced, specialized knowledgeLook for ways to enhance the current commercialization process through previous experience and technical savvyIdentify and develop research programs to drive cost optimization, implement product improvements and identify emerging technologyIdentify problems and drive cross-functional exploration to determine root cause, with a focus on developing corrective actionMentor less senior associates

    This is a full-time, hybrid position b ased out of the Downers Grove, IL research center

    About You:
    You'll fit right in if you have:Bachelor's Degree required in Food Science/Engineering or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
    Five years' experience in Food Product DevelopmentUnderstanding of ingredient interactions/functionalityPreferred knowledge of waffle/pancake development or baking application developmentAbility to communicate effectively and openly while working with cross-functional teamsMust be able to conduct customer interactions, coordinate meetings and have strong communications skills to provide technical expertiseMust be a self-starter, independent, energetic and resourcefulExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAptitude for technical leadership, project management and commercializationAble to travel up to 35%, including travel to Canada Your TreeHouse Foods Career is Just a Click Away
