Job Description:
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays a crucial role in providing medical evaluation and treatment to patients at John Muir Medical Center, working collaboratively with Supervising Physicians. The NP's duties are guided by standardized procedures developed through collaboration among hospital administration, medical staff, nursing, Supervising Physicians, and NPs, approved by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Board.

The NP is a registered nurse who has acquired additional preparation and skills in physical diagnosis, psycho-social assessment, and management of health-illness needs. Key responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients, providing education on health maintenance and disease prevention, and offering counseling services. In a collegial relationship with physicians, the NP delivers healthcare to patients at John Muir Medical Center.

Key Requirements:

Education:

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN or DNP) - Required

Experience:

3 years Nursing - Nurse Practitioner - Preferred

Specialty Experience:

Must have experience in one of the following specialties: Surgery, Oncology, OB, Hospitalist, Intensivist, Psychology, Gerontology, Urology, Non-Invasive Cardiology, or Trauma

Certifications/Licensures:

RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required
NP Registered Nurse Practitioner - CA Board of Registered Nursing - Required
NP-F Registered Nurse Practitioner Furnishing - CA Board of Registered Nursing - Required
FNP Family Nurse Practitioner - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center - Required
DEA Drug Enforcement Agency - US Dept of Justice - Drug Enforcement Administration - Required
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required

Essential Skills:

Demonstrated ability to manage patient's health and illness.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, manage time, and prioritize work in collaboration with others.
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, motivated, and work independently as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Basic computer literacy to operate a client/family information system, word processing, and email.

Work Details:
12.0-hour per diem day shifts, no waiver. Hourly pay ranges from $83.53 to $125.29, adjusted based on relevant experience and licensure. Pay will be adjusted for local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.
