    Overview

    Utilizing independent judgement, The Director of Hockey is responsible for creating, managing, supervising, and coordinating internal ice programming of Centene Community Ice Center. The Director will also manage ice scheduling, cultivate positive relationships with tenants and user groups, and management of public skating/hockey sessions. This individual will provide overall administrative planning, direction, and policies to the venue, assuring the highest quality guest service and tenant relations while meeting the financial objectives of the facility. This individual will provide highly responsible staff assistance to the program manager, skate attendants and coaches.

    This role will pay a salary of $70,000 to $85,000.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops, promotes, and executes the following internal programs that maximizes profitability and operational efficiency.
      • Youth and Adult hockey leagues
      • Youth and Adult hockey camps
      • Youth and Adult hockey clinics
    • Figure Skating camps and clinics
    • Hockey Tournaments
    • Oversee all ice/hockey programs at the facility.
    • Responsible for creating and maintaining an efficient master ice schedule.
    • Establishes relationships with local, regional, national, and international organizations to promote the facility as a preferred venue for tournaments and special events.
    • Ensure highly positive relationships with all facility tenants and user groups (i.e. recreational, youth, adult, travel teams etc.) and solicits feedback regarding programs effectiveness among the tenants and user groups.
    • Ensure all scheduling is accurately and timely entered to the facility's scheduling software.
    • Responsible for creating and managing the Ice Program Department budget to ensure the facility is consistently achieving department revenue goals while effectively managing expenses and reports results to the General Manager.
    • Recommends ways to profitably allocate ice time and space to ensure a balance between tenant needs, internal programming, and tournaments/special events.
    • Coordinate scheduling and staffing of all public skating, stick and puck, and freestyle hockey sessions.
    • Hiring and Supervision of Program Manager, Scorekeepers, Skate Guards, and On-Ice Instructors and Counselors
    • Confirming Assignment of referees with Referee Assignor for all house and tournament functions
    • Provide coaches Education Training program for all coaches in facility.
    • Serve as tournament director for all rink-sponsored tournaments.
    • Coordinate and communicate with tournament directors for all tournaments hosted at the facility, including planning and scheduling.
    • Consistently explore other potential revenue streams through new programming, tournaments, camps, clinics, and leagues.
    • Other duties as necessary or designated by General Manager

    Qualifications

    • B.S. or B.A. degree from an accredited college/university.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of ice rink/hockey programming and management experience in public or private assembly facility.
    • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver effective and profitable hockey programs.
    • The ability to develop and maintain relationships with tenants, event organizers, hockey teams, and tournament directors.
    • USA Hockey certified coach
    • High motivated with good leadership skills, respectful communication and is self-motivated.
    • Ability to apply conflict resolution and problem-solving skills in a team-oriented environment.
    • Ability to express ideas clearly through professional oral and written communication.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
    • Superior ice scheduling and hockey management skills
    • Knowledge of budget preparation and control
    • Effectively work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
