- Education: A post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Education Accreditation Requirement.
- Foreign Education. Graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing programs, the nurse practitioner degree equivalency must be validated through an Agency recognized degree equivalency evaluation agency, such as the International Consultants of Delaware (ICD). Candidates with equivalent Nurse Practitioner masters or doctorate level degrees who possess current, full, active and unrestricted registration and certification (see paragraph 2c) will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant appointment.
- BASIC CERTIFICATION:
- Advance Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) must maintain full and current board certification in an area of clinical specialty from one of the following: a. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) OR
- Clinical Practice. Delivers evidence-based health care, demonstrating proficiency in the ability to manage a patient panel, population or program.

Duties
The Primary Care Service line serves Veterans with varying degrees of psychiatric disorders and conditions and co-morbidities requiring medical and psychiatric interventions.
50% of this position is program faculty providing clinical care to Veterans and supervision to Primary Care NP post graduate residents and 50% program coordination for the PCNP residency programs.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:Nurse Residency Program Coordinator:
Is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of evidence-based nursing education residency programs.
Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Residency Program Faculty:
Will provide clinical supervision to residents and/or students, assist with responsibilities for the administration of the Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Residency Program at NCHCS.
They must be clinically and academically qualified to provide effective leadership to the program in achieving its mission, goals and expected outcomesClinical duties include, but are not limited to:

Basic Requirements:
* (a) The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA The ACEN accredits all levels of nursing programs, including clinical doctorate, masters/post-master's certificate, baccalaureate, associate and diploma nursing education programs. OR
* (b) The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), 655 K Street, NW, Suite 7, Washington, DC The CCNE is an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and accredits nursing education programs at the bachelor and master's level.
* c. Other nationally recognized certifying body in the area in which the Nurse Practitioner is academically prepared.
GRADE DETERMINATION:
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) (Nurse Practitioner) II.
(a) Scope. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
(b) Education and Experience Requirement. Meets basic education requirement for APN (CNS). Nurse II is considered the entry grade level for APN (NPs); no experience is required.
(c) Dimension Requirement.
APNs (NPs) at level II are expected to meet the following dimension requirements:
(a) Scope. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience and creative approaches to management of complex client care.(b) Education and Experience Requirement.

APNs (Nurse Practitioners) at grade III are expected to meet the following dimension requirements:

Physical Requirements:
Involves considerable amount of standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and turning.
Requires carrying or lifting of objects weighing up to 25 lbs., but occasionally may require work that involves pushing or lifting in excess of 25 lbs.

Ability to effectively perform the essential functions of the position and respond appropriately in emergency situations.The incumbent is subject to the provisions set by the Nurse Professional Standards Board in areas of probationary period, promotion and other actions requiring board approval.
EducationNote:
Only education or degrees recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) may be used to qualify for nursing positions.
The approving official may authorize a waiver of the requirement for ACEN or CCNE accreditation of any degree in nursing provided the college or university has regional accreditation from an accrediting body recognized by the Department of Education at the time of the candidate's graduation and the composite qualifications of the applicant warrant such consideration.

Additional information
Annual leave shall accrue for full-time Nurses, and Nurse Anesthetists at the rate of 8 hours for each full biweekly pay period.
