    Senior Applications Engineer

    Onsite - San Diego - Full-Time

    The Senior Applications Engineer position involves close collaboration with the Sales and Design Engineering departments. This role is the crucial link between customer requirements and the company's technology and design strategies.

    Responsibilities encompass selecting cells and chemistry, creating customized battery designs, validating products, obtaining application approvals, defining BMS/controls specifications, securing industry certifications, and gaining customer design endorsement.

    Qualifications

    • 8 years of experience, with prior roles in customer-facing technical and energy storage applications.
    • in mechanical or electrical engineering (or similar). Master's degree in a related field preferred.
    • Implement multi-phase development projects, collect and document project requirements, coordinate structured gate approvals, execute sign-off processes, and confirm validation testing performance.
    • launching low to mid-volume products into production.
    • with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), mechanical/thermal simulation (COMSOL preferred), GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and drawing review/release procedures.
    • Experience with energy storage system regulations and certifications such as UL 2271, UL 9540, UL 1973, UN 38.3, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, SAE J1797, SAE J2464, and related requirements

    The Senior Applications Engineer will collaborate with internal engineering teams and external contract engineers as needed to deliver best-in-class solutions for customer needs.
