    What you'll do

    The Ward Clerk performs clerical and receptionist duties for the nursing units and nursing services office.


    • Provide clerical service for assigned nursing units and assist nursing service office as needed without question. This may include providing assistance with resident care if necessary.
    • Perform receptionist duties, such as:
    • Making and receiving phone calls
    • Direct visitors
    • Relay interdepartmental communications
    • Provide for proper identification, itemize, record, pack and unpack resident clothing and belongings
    • Order and put away all supplies needed to maintain sufficient quota for all aspects of continuous function of nursing unit
    • Deliver mail, flowers, etc., to residents every day. The Ward Clerk must cover other units in the absence of another Ward Clerk
    • Deliver specimens to laboratory holding room and record lab work in log book with DX and ICD-9 codes as well as any routines that need to be scheduled
    • Prepare papers for transfer, admission and discharges
    • Maintain neatness of desk area of nursing unit
    • Check nursing notebooks, resident charts and cardexes daily for updating and omissions including:
    • Prepare daily & monthly boards
    • Vital signs
    • Weights
    • Label charts appropriately
    • Check current physician orders for lab work ordered
    • DNR status-mark chart w/ green sticker, mark cardex, prepare green bracelet and place on resident as soon as possible
    • Prepare name bracelet for every resident on admission
    • Assist visiting physicians (dentists, podiatrists, etc.) by providing transport and records copy of order, doctor notes and schedule visits)
    • Thin charts per policy
    • Prepare end of month nursing need sheets and statistical information and update ADL & Rehab sheets
    • Copy worksheets, as needed, on nursing units
    • Prepare toileting and restraint sheets, as requested
    • Distribute med sheets, and check doctor's orders daily
    • Supply Quality Assurance Department with specimen referral sheets for Medicare Part A residents. Provide diagnosis and ICD-9 code
    • Maintain & receive deliveries of tube feeding, foley, colostomy, supplies, and dressings. Keep Medicare Part B provider notified of changes
    • Must be able to set priorities regarding workload (i.e.-transfer to hospital is first priority)
    • Any other tasks and duties as assigned
    • Attend all required in-services and follow all department and facility policies including the use of care information personal protective equipment
    • Must display a positive attitude with residents, staff, visitors and family members
    • Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent resident care and employee information and follow HIPAA and HIV regulations
    What we need from you


    Education:

    • Graduate of an accredited business school, preferred

    Experience:

    • Medical secretary knowledge, preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
    • Occasional balancing, crouching, repetitive motion
    • Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking

    Hazards:

    Pay Range


    Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.

    The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.


    Pay Range Minimum:
    USD $16.12/Hr.


    Pay Range Maximum:
    USD $17.16/Hr.
