Building Maintenance/Facilities for Property Management Group Direct Hire (Boston $23-26/hr)

This is a full-time position.

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with rotation of overnight on-call duty and the ability to work during nonstandard hours when the need arises. Overtime is included as-needed for emergencies.

The Maintenance Technician will be in charge of performing ongoing facility maintenance. Their duties include performing minor repairs, plumbing, heating and wiring, inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards and scheduling major repairs with the building's inhabitants.

General Job Tasks/Responsibilities:

• Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair
• Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage.
• Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
• Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly
• Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems.
• Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
• Conduct and document regular facilities inspections and communicate results.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes.
• Inspect vacated apartments and complete a make-readyTM checklist and inform manager of needed services and repairs.
• Quality control checks for completed work by contractors and vendors.
• Assure security of the facility.
• Respond to facility and equipment alarms and system failures.
• Provide prompt response to requests and issues from facility occupants.

Physical Requirements

Extensive mobility and excellent physical condition. Ability to lift 100 lbs. Ability to operate all necessary tools to make repairs. Ability to kneel, crouch, climb and crawl, etc. to reach items in need of repair. Ability to drive to and from job sites. Tolerance of hot and cold weather, as may be necessary when working outdoors.

Transportation:

Must have a dependable vehicle to get to job sites and back from job sites.
