This is a full-time position at Scripps Memorial La Jolla. Float to Encinitas as needed. Some weekend coverage will be required. This limited tenure position is funded for 12 months.

This 12-month limited tenure role is part of a Grant from the California Bridge Program and will work in coordination with the Opioid Stewardship Program.

The right fit will be a team player who is eager to learn, has at least 2 years of experience in the chemical dependency field, has CA SUD Certification or an RADT, and is outgoing and not afraid to work hard.

The Substance Abuse Counselor will be supporting the Emergency Department but may also support other units throughout the hospital.

The Substance Abuse Counselor provides substance use counseling services to all levels of care within the program. They will participate in the structure of a multidisciplinary treatment team addressing the chemical dependency needs of patients. The Counselor will facilitate transitions of care to outpatient clinics for Medication Assisted Treatment

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Two years working in the chemical dependency field

Preferred Qualifications:

American Health Association BLS for Healthcare Providers
Certification from a California State Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Services certifying agency under an approved certifying organization; and/or Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT)
