Education/Licensure/Certification:

· Current California Phlebotomy Certificate is required or eligible for certification.

Shift: Nights (8 Hours)

Pay Range: $24.40/hr. - $28.20/hr.

Position Summary

The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood collection activities for the purpose of health assessment. The Phlebotomist also performs all activities, pre-analytic analysis, analytic analysis, and data management under the direction of a California Licensed Supervisor as defined in Chapter 3 of State of California Business and Professions Code.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

· Following appropriate procedures and protocols, performs blood collection activities for the purpose of laboratory testing and health assessment as well as prepares/dispenses blood products.

· Performs analytic functions where allowed by California Law.

· Performs venipuncture and finger stick specimen collection activities from pediatric, and/or neonatal patient population for the purpose of health assessment.

· Ensures that equipment and safety devices are used appropriately following set guidelines.

· Performs data management activities and documentation.

· Meets Population specific competencies.

· Attends department education and training inservices.

· Participates in specific performance improvement projects.

· Communicates effectively with all patients and emonstrates good customer service skills.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
