    Merrill is a leading provider of full-service wealth management solutions for high net worth ("HNW") and ultra-high net worth ("UHNW") individuals, businesses, and institutions, as well as a provider of guided and self-directed investing for individuals that have less complex wealth management needs, with a focus on U.S.

    clients.


    The Division COO (DCOO) is responsible for driving Strategic Business Initiatives, Division Financial and Operating Plans, and day-to-day running of the Division in support of the Division Executive (DE) and in partnership with the entire Division leadership team.

    This role provides strategic and innovative advice and support to the Division Executive and drives Division growth, cost-efficiency, and profitability, as well as client experience and advisor productivity, while also appropriately balancing risk and service issues.

    This role is also responsible for business management reviews and operational excellence for Merrill's Mountain Pacific Division, which consists of over 800 experienced Financial Advisors, across 11 markets and 66 branch offices.

    The DCOO reports to the Field Operations Executive within Merrill's COO group, with joint accountability to their respective Division Executive and the Field Operations Executive.


    Functional Role Description:

    • Coordinate with Market Executives, Resident Directors and Office Management Teams (OMT) to drive strategic priorities, revenue growth and achievement of financial plans demonstrating sound judgment and decision making
    • Provide end-to-end coordination for management level governance routines including preparation and review of materials, meeting logistics, talking points for meetings with key stakeholders, and execution of key priorities
    • Proactively engage others to drive integration and operational efficiencies across lines of businesses and teams
    • Grow and develop talent in support of broader people strategy and Market-level OMT talent pipeline
    • Identify and lead Operational Excellence work for the Division
    • Act as proxy for Division Executive as needed
    • Represent LOB to coordinate Real Estate projects, including relocations, co-locations, expansions and reductions.

    Role Requirements:

    • Must have 5 years of previous COO, strategy or field management experience, 10+ preferred
    • Current or previous Merrill experience strongly preferred
    • Must be analytical, organized and have the ability to manage competing priorities
    • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills to deliver insights and recommendations to senior management
    • Strategic Planning and implementation experience is desired
    • Ability to bring multiple stakeholders together, cut to the core of issues and influence others to reach consensus and decisions, demonstrate personal courage

    • Ability to work in a high energy, fast-paced environment and effectively multi-task

    Job Code Summary:

    Division COOs report to Merrill Field Operations Executive and support their respective Division Executive.

    Day-to-day running of Divisions in partnership with rest of Division leadership.


    Leading reporting and analytical measurement efforts to deepen teams understanding of business economics and causes and effects of different operating levers; ensuring accountability.


    Providing succinct, strategic, candid, timely and proactive communications to Division Leadership team (DE, Market Executives, RDs) to compel performance and change.
