    Testing & Lab Specialist

    As the Testing & Lab Specialist, you will be responsible for prototyping and testing of electrical distribution products. Prototyping will include material handling, assembly, and instrumentation of large and medium sized switch gear. Testing will include temperature rise testing, dielectric testing, environmental testing, and endurance testing. Test objects include a wide range of low voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment. Test Technicians will interface with Test Engineers, test clients, accreditation body representatives and ABB factories. Testing projects will follow ISO 17025 practices for verification and reporting of test results and will support continuous improvement in test procedures and work instructions.

    Your responsibilities

    • Material handling and coordination for test projects
    • Assembly and modifications of test objects
    • Safely execute high voltage and high current testing
    • Understand and verify test results
    • Identify and help create new test equipment and fixtures to improve efficiency of testing
    • Maintain existing test equipment
    • Interface with Quality teams and factory on corrective actions
    • Interface with other ABB functions and labs to ensure proper testing has been completed
    Your background
    • Associate degree or technical certificate in electrical/electronic technology with minimum 5 years of relevant experience OR minimum 7 years relevant experience
    • Experience and understanding of electrical systems and electrical safety
    • Experience with meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, test, and data acquisition systems
    • Experience with low voltage and medium voltage switchgear, preferred
    • Familiar with test plans and test standards
    • Strong interpersonal skills required to achieve cooperation and reach agreement with internal and external customers and suppliers
    • Must be self-motivated with a high level of creativity
    • Experience in dealing with the cultural diversity of a global business environment
