    In this role, you will execute medium to high complexity service work installation, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades and retrofits according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB processes, standards and safety guidelines.

    As a Senior Field Service Engineer, you are entitled to empower smarter business operations by connecting equipment, software and services to protect, control and optimize assets within electrical infrastructures.

    Across multiple energy intensive industries, the business provides customers with end to end product and service solutions that help ensure the reliability and protection of their electrical infrastructure.

    This position reports toService ManagerYour responsibilitiesProvide a deliverable paralleling switchgear system that can perform the following modes of operation:

    open transition, closed transition, peak shave, load shed, load add, balance of plantLead site deliverables for the customer, maintain a schedule, document changes in scope, document site delays and interface with Project ManagerLeadership of a site commissioning team that consists of switchgear engineers, power deliver field engineers, generator technicians and electrical contractorsMaintain interface with product engineering team for project scope, system sequence of operation and field modificationsCompletion of project and daily reports consisting of short duration safety plans, field service reports, redlines and method of procedureCompletion and compliance to all safety requirementsAbility to travel at least 80 percent of the timeYour backgroundBachelor of Science (BSEE is preferred) with a minimum of 8 years of field commissioning experience as a site lead engineerField experience and technical training can be accepted in lieu of degreePLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) programming and interface to Paralleling Switchgear DesignPLC, RTU (Remote Terminal Unit), DCS (Distributed control system) and Computer controlled SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems with a focus on power delivery equipment and paralleling switchgear operations and mandatory understanding of power delivery equipment as it pertains to data center and healthcare applicationSCADA, HMI (Human Machine Interface) or GUI (Graphical user interface) all are operator interfaces mostly developed around Complicity, Wonderware, infix (Proficiency), Citect and RS View applications and the ability to create the graphic interface the customer uses to operate and manage the systemFundamental understanding of hardware network design and various communication protocols such as Control Net, Modbus, ProfNet, etc., and this involves polling or extracting information out of the field devicesAbility to interpret the protective relay settings in relationship to the systemDeep understanding of distribute energy resources (diesel generator, steam/gas turbines, solar, wind, hydro and battery storage systems that can island or operate in parallel with the utility grid is helpfulKnowledge of synchronization hardware such as Woodward Governor is essential and ability to read and understand system one lines, power three lines and equipment control and layout drawingsOperation, controls and testing of all aspects of low voltage and medium voltage switch gearCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USBenefits Retirement plan Life insurance Disability insurance Wellbeing program Healthcare plan More about usElectrifying the world in a safe, smart and sustainable way, ABB Electrification is a global technology leader in electrical distribution and management from source to socket.
