Provides direct nursing care, alongsidea coach, in accordance with established policies, procedures andprotocols of the healthcare organization.     Responsibilities:

    • Participates in a residencycore curriculum based on their individual learningneeds.
    • Provides direct nursing care, alongsidea coach, in accordance with established policies, procedures andprotocols of the healthcareorganization.
    • Establishes and/or revisespriorities for patient care activities based on the following:acuity of need, patient preference, and resourceavailability.
    • Initiates and/or maintainsinterventions to assure continuity of safe/effective care forpatients.
    • Responds to data indicating risk toindividual's health and initiates action to correct, reduce, orprevent the risk.
    • Seeks supervision,consultation, assistance when unable to perform safely andindependently.
    • Complies with establishedhospital/department personnel policies.
    • Usescommunication strategies in order to achieve desirableoutcomes.
    • Documents in patient's medical recordaccording to established guidelines.
    • Otherduties asassigned.

    Education:

    • Graduate from an accreditedschool of professional nursing.
    • BSNpreferred

    Certifications:

    • Current state licensure asa Registered Nurse (RN).
    • Basic LifeSupport (BLS) through American Heart Association(AHA).
    • If in an ED,Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American HeartAssociation (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work inthe EmergencyDepartment.

    Complexityof Work:

    • Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision.
    • Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriateaction.

    WorkExperience:

    • New grad or lessthan one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving fromnon-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting withless than one year current acute direct patient care RNexperience.

    PhysicalRequirements:

    • Requires fullrange of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manualand finger dexterity, and eye-handcoordination.
    • Requires standing and walking forextended periods of time.
    • Requires correctedvision and hearing to normal range.
    • Requiresworking under stressful conditions and irregularhours.
    • Exposure to communicable diseases and/orbody fluids.
    • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of forceconstantly to move objects.
    • Physical Demandrequirements are in excess of those for LightWork.

    PersonalProtective Equipment:

    • Follows StandardPrecautions using personal protective equipment as required forprocedures.
