Job Summary
This position enables timely Veteran-centered access to specialty and primary care services via real-time video (CVT/VVC) telehealth encounters at a VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic.The Telehealth Technician (LPN) prepares Veterans for telehealth visits coordinates troubleshoots connectivity ensures accurate documentation privacy in accordance with VA directives clinical standards.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and prepare Veterans for telehealth visits verify identity obtain consent per policy
- Room Veterans complete pre-visit activities vitals pain allergies medication reconciliation targeted histories standardized clinical reminders
- Set up operate telehealth carts cameras microphones peripherals e.g digital stethoscope otoscope derm camera exam camera
- Facilitate exam workflows per provider direction ensure visualization audio quality clinical data capture/li>Livemedication administration per route allowed EKGs specimen collection wound care ear irrigation following standing orders protocols/li>Patient education whole-health coaching teach-back reinforce care plans follow-up instructions/
- Escalate clinical concerns RN/provider assist in-clinic emergencies role e.g obtaining crash cart calling rapid response 911/li>Daily equipment checks software updates log maintenance ensure batteries charged peripherals functional/troubleshoot basic network audio video issues collaborate local enterprise IT distant site restore service quickly/
- Cleaning disinfection high-touch surface protocols between encounters maintain supply PAR levels/
- Scheduler coordination template readiness appropriate appointment types Veteran instructions fasting connection tests/minimize no-shows connection failures/optimize room utilization flow reduce cycle time support same-day access/document assessments clinical reminders telehealth encounter details VA EHR using approved templates complete required fields forms/adhere HIPAA Privacy OSHA infection prevention information security standards/response audits tracers report safety events near misses/completes organizational compliance education assigned client-specified Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification regulatory bodies/Additional duties may be required not specifically listed above.
