    Purpose:


    Work to ensure the financial integrity of the Vesuvius business unit, including an accurate and timely close (both P&L and B/S).

    Accountable for ongoing development and maintenance of product costs; partner with operations to trace costs back to underlying business activities.

    Support business as partner to Plant Manager to drive plant savings


    Dimensions of Position:
    Manage the financial accounts of the entity, including monthly accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
    Establish and maintain an environment of controls and compliance in line with Vesuvius standards during transition from family business to public company
    Analyze manufacturing variances to understand financial performance in cooperation with operations team and identify improvement opportunities
    Responsible for managing and updating standard costs in local ERP system; costing support will include actual products as well as new product inquiries
    Support and provide input into planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
    Produce ad hoc reports as required to enable decision making


    Key Result Areas:
    Accuracy and timeliness of month end close
    Internal and external audit performance
    Gross margin and inventory for business unit


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in relevant business or technical field
    3+ years of experience with financial controls in a manufacturing setting
    5+ years of experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing setting
    Prior work with ERP software preferred; JD Edwards a plus
    Expert knowledge of cost accounting and financial accounting
    Working knowledge of MS Office with strength in MS Excel
