Description
Roles & ResponsibilitiesThis role is primarily responsible for maintaining the plant automation Operational Technology (OT) systems including but not limited to engineering, troubleshooting, maintenance, projects, and vendor management.
OT system consists of control system devices (PLC, HMI, SCADA, VFD, etc.), server application (PI, historian, SQL, etc.) and field instruments (maintenance and calibration).
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain plant automation, instrumentation, and controls OT infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and analyse automation-related problems.
Create permanent solutions based on root cause analysis to eliminate plant downtime to a minimum.
Lead the site calibration programs as per global standard.
Liaise with vendors and production team to maintain calibration schedules of all instruments to eliminate issues on safety, quality, production, and other risks due to calibration or instrumentation failure.
Develop a detailed understanding of automation systems in the plant including but not limited to Rockwell Logix PLCs (Compact Logix, Control Logix, etc.), PanelView, Wonderware ArchestrA & Intouch, Wonderware Historian, SQL database, ASI, EtherNet/IP, FTAC, Power Flex VFDs, and any other control systems installed at the site.
Ensure the latest backups and crash recovery procedures are updated and tested to recover any OT assets (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, Controllers, etc.) in case of a crash or machine failure.
Support any projects (OpEx/CaPex/global/etc.) as automation point of contact during design engineering, development, and commissioning to ensure a smooth transaction after project handover.
Ensure good housekeeping is achieved.
Propose and implement minor modifications to systems, equipment, processes, and operations to improve safety, increase efficiency, and achieve company goals.
Ensure that changes carried out on the automation systems that went through the change control process shall not compromise the safety, environmental, or quality aspect.
Maintain the validated status of production equipment and associated control systems in accordance with company standard, departmental procedures, and SOPs.
Work closely with the Global Automation team to deliver compliance with Global Automation Standards.
Any other ad hoc tasks/assignment/projects related to OT/Automation as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/related Engineering. Minimum 5 years of experience as an Automation/Control System Engineer. Preferably in a manufacturing plant. Experience in Allen-Bradley PLC & HMI, Wonderware InTouch/System Platform, communication protocols (Ethernet, ASI, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus, etc.). Familiarity with SQL, PI Server, Historian, OPC and other server applications. Familiarity with general field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow transmitter, etc.). Familiarity with ATEX/Explosion-proof standard. Additional qualification/trainings in automation OT would be preferred. Knowledge of safety system is preferred. Ability to work under pressure as an individual and as part of the team to achieve numerous targets. Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders from multiple countries. Strong written and verbal communication and computer skills required.
