We pride ourselves on our extensive experience and effective approach, ensuring that we lead with both innovation and integrity.We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a background in Government Contracting to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience in Government Contracting, proficiency in Unanet system or Deltek/ CostPoint, and a strong understanding of complex government AP and billing/AR practices.
This individual must possess a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
A bachelor's degree in accounting is required, with a Master's degree preferred.Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Reconciliation
Assist in preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Reconcile GL accounts, analyzing financial statements for discrepancies, and making adjustments
Assist with indirect budgets management and indirect rates fluctuations analysis - ensure that all indirect costs are properly allocated and in compliance with government standards
General Ledger Oversight
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP and government contracting standards
Prepare and maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, depreciation, and amortization, ensuring proper accounting treatment
Prepare and maintain ASC 845 schedules and month-end Journal Entries
Conduct detailed bank accounts reconciliations and credit card reconciliations in Unanet
Review government travel expense reports for accuracy and compliance for federal billing
Accounting Function
Manage vendor payments and vendor's profiles utilizing Unanet system
Maintain & reconcile NACHA file for payments
Process AP and maintain vendor relationships, documentation, 1099s etc.
Perform accounts receivables reconciliation against government billing
Assist with preparation of cashflow statement and cash flow forecast
Internal controls & audit support
Assist with internal and external audits (monthly / quarterly / annually)
Support with federal and state tax filings and states registrations maintenance
Contribute to the development and implementation of internal financial policies and procedures tailored to support government contracting activities
Requirements
5+ years of accounting experience in government contracting
2+ years of Unanet system experience or Deltek / CostPoint
3+ years of experience with complex government AP and billing / AR practices
Knowledge of government contracting compliance
Very strong user of Microsoft Excel (e.g., macros, pivot tables, complex formulas)
Bachelor's degree in accounting / Master's in Accounting (Preferred)
In-depth knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Ability to pay strict attention to detail and accuracy
Hybrid - 2 days per week in the Herndon, VA office
