    The Surgical Technologist (ST) is responsible for the provision of patient care to meet identified patient outcomes, and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse. The ST performs duties according to scope of practice designated by Ortho RI and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the company.

    Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    1. Delivers safe patient care according to Ortho RI policy and procedure
    2. Demonstrates ability to respond to patient care needs in an emergency and under direction of Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse
    3. Demonstrates ability to meet patients and family's learning needs as identified in the plan of care under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse
    4. Functions as a certified scrub technician in the operating room/procedure room under the direction of the Registered Nurse
    5. Assists with care, preparation, maintenance, and after-care of sterile and un-sterile supplies and equipment
    6. Demonstrates ability to understand and use sterilizers, high-level disinfectors, instrument washers, and other designated processors
    7. Demonstrates understanding of operating room/procedure room technical equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines, policy and procedures
    8. Assists with stocking, replenishing and preparation of supplies
    9. Checks updated schedule every morning and prepares room supplies and equipment
    10. Participates in scheduled performance appraisals and demonstrates dedication to ongoing performance improvement
    11. Responsibly demonstrates and the importance of continuing education to the performance of facility responsibilities and growth in profession
    12. Communicates all relevant patient information to physician, Facility Manager, and appropriate staff in a safe and confidential manner
    13. Performs all other duties as assigned by management
    14. Compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations
    Performance Requirements:

    Knowledge:
    1. Excellent computer skills
    2. Microsoft Suite (including: Outlook, Word, Excel, Calendar)
    3. Phone software
    4. Familiarity with legal and policy limits of individual practice

    Work Environment:

    General pleasant working environment with little or no distractions or exposure to unpleasant or hazardous elements. Meets all safety training requirements associated with the Surgical Center. Indoors climate-controlled environment. Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids which may carry infection, to infectious disease, and to chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate

    Physical Demands:

    Good visual acuity, accurate color vision. Ability to lift/transfer patients, in which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape. Ability to speak and hear.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday and may vary depend on Company Schedule.

    Travel:
    No overnight travel is expected for this position. There may be occasional local day travel to Company Divisions.

    Required Education and Experience
    1. High School Graduate or equivalent
    2. BLS required
    3. Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
    4. At least one year of experience as a Surgical Technician in the OR
