    Job Summary

    The Human Resources Specialist is an integral position that supports the Phoenix College Human Resources team and serves as the primary point of contact for the Administration Building. This position is responsible for independent administrative support, ensuring excellent customer service, and facilitating the temporary hiring processes. The ideal candidate will be capable of working in a fast- paced, deadline driven, multi-tasking team environment, while upholding strict confidentiality standards. Additionally, this role interacts with a diverse range of individuals, including staff, faculty, administrators, students, and the public. Developing positive working relationships with fellow support staff within the administration building is key to success in this role.

    Essential Functions

    30%- Facilitates the temporary hiring process, which involves conducting background checks, reference checks, verifying employment, confirming qualifications, and data entry; Serves as primary contact for onboarding activities and I-9s; Ensures consistency and accuracy in the hiring and data entry processes

    30% - Oversees the human resources customer support account, using independent judgment to respond to inquiries; Provides customer support, researches and responds to inquiries, troubleshoots issues in various areas, including recruitment, payroll, general benefit questions; Ensures compliance with MCCCD policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations

    25% - Serves as the initial contact for both the human resources department and the administration building; Welcomes visitors, manages incoming calls, and accurately relays messages; Maintains department calendar and assists with correspondences, as needed; Initiates paperwork and provides routine assistance in the completion of forms for various personnel actions or programs

    10%- Oversees the maintenance of files, records, database information and documentation related to assigned area and according to established procedures; Special projects doing research, documentation gathering, or other relevant human resources projects as directed

    5%- Performs other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one (1) year of experience in human resources support, particularly in advanced-level clerical, administrative support, and customer service within an office setting.

    OR

    High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in human resources support, particularly in advanced-level clerical, administrative support, and customer service within an office setting.

    Desired Qualifications

    1. Experience performing HR related functions within Maricopa County Community Colleges District (MCCCD).

    2. Experience working in higher education or public sector environment.

    3. Experience performing functions related to hiring full or part time employees, including recruitment, onboarding, conducting I9s, etc.

    4. Experience performing administrative tasks, such as calendar management, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, responding to customer emails.

    5. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Google products (Gmail, Google Doc, Google Sheets, etc).

    6. Experience providing customer service to multiple locations/departments, in writing, in person and over the phone.
