- Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific field with 4+ years of direct IH experience.
- Knowledge of healthcare/hospital settings preferred but not mandatory.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. (You will be requested to provide personal writing examples with application. Provide written cover letter detailing why you are interested in this job).
- Must be able to work independently, and be able to integrate easily into teamwork and projects.
- Fluency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint is required. Knowledge of Visio and Smartsheet applications a plus.
- CIH or CAIH preferred. CAIH or CIH within three years of hire. Certifications are fully sponsored and funded by the hospital.

Overview
Anticipates, Recognizes, Evaluates, and Controls the safety and industrial hygiene environment (chemical, physical, ergonomic, and biological hazards and stressors) at DHMC.
Responsibilities
IH-Specific Responsibilities Manages and coordinates the respiratory protection program for DHMC. Coordinates and supports all environmental/occupational sampling and monitoring, including equipment inventory.
Works closely with the lab safety coordinator to ensure lab safety and compliance through the Chemical Hygiene Plan and hospital Joint Commission requirements.
Supports the DHMC biosafety program. Manages the hospital's patient decontamination team. Oversees and manages the spill response program. May have to respond to chemical spills. Responds to IAQ complaints and oversees the IAQ program. Works periodically with Engineering staff related to engineering controls and ventilation. IH knowledge of HVAC systems and the industrial environment will be required. Performs safety training to all hospital audiences at all levels including clinical and non-clinical staffs. Performs noise monitoring across the system where needed. Coordinates and oversees general compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements. Works closely with the Safety Specialist to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and DOT programs. Performs safety audits and rounding. Expected to be able to perform basic risk assessments where needed. Writes, edits and updates safety and IH-related policies and procedures.General Duties and Responsibilities Serves as the industrial hygiene content expert and consultant for D-H affiliates Assists the OEHS director and manager where needed.
Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of structures and processes that support clinical and non-clinical safety improvement efforts. Enables the collection, storage and analysis of improvement and safety data. Participates as a member of the department's team in strategic and operational planning forums and processes. Identifies opportunities for system design, policies/procedures, and process improvements and contributes to improvement efforts.Assists in the development of process improvement and occupational workforce safety data collection, maintenance and reporting systems for the department.
