A General/Yard Laborer is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a hauling company.

Responsibilities may include such things as yard clean-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, general office maintenance, and other related duties.

Responsibilities:

• Cleans up work areas.
• Fuel vehicles and equipment.
• Perform yard work, including mowing and paper pick up.
• Operate general site vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain a professional demeanor with other team members.
• Perform general office maintenance and repairs, including painting and janitorial work.
• Operates loader, forklift, or other equipment to move material to designated area.
• Clean designated areas of the facility both inside and outside according to established standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Ensure that assigned areas of the building are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
• Report maintenance concerns or safety issues to management promptly.
• Maintain a professional demeanor with other team members.
• Complete daily tasks according to company policy and procedures, including but not limited to; lock-out notification, cleaning schedules, waste disposal procedures, operating a floor cleaner, sweeping, mopping, etc.
• Follow established procedures for reporting safety hazards, maintenance concerns, and other matters that may arise.
• Coordinates with Supervisor/Maintenance Manager to see what projects need to be completed for the day/week.
• Performs routine maintenance and daily inspection of equipment such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
• Keeps surrounding work areas clean.
• Loads or unloads materials into or out of trailers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Listed below are key points regarding environmental demands and the work environment of the job.

• Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday.
• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 50 pounds occasionally.
• Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) rarely.
• Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the work day.
• Normal setting for this job; shop.
• The Porter is responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas of the facility including a truck repair shop. The Porter will help maintain a clean and orderly work environment that is conducive to professional performance.
