The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia has an immediate professional opportunity for an _*Accounts Payable Supervisor*_ in Charleston, West Virginia.
*Position Summary:
This position performs professional accounting/auditing duties in the following areas: general accounting and accounts payable.
This position is responsible for the oversight of the accounts payable process including supervising, directing, coordinating, and reviewing work activities and work product.
Incumbent will supervise an accounts payable team, direct the processing of invoices and payments, and manage expense and budget reports.
*Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities:Supervises staff by planning accounts payable tasks, reviewing work product, evaluating performance, and scheduling and directing daily tasks and activities.
Ensures effective internal controls over accounts payable functions.Trains new employees in the performance of job duties; identifies training needs of existing staff.
Final review and approval of accounts payable invoices for submission to the State Auditors Office.
Recording and tracking lease revenue and expenditures.
Responds to vendor inquiries by e-mail and phone to resolve missing invoices/payment issues. Process stop payments and re-issue checks as necessary.
Examines accounting records to assure adherence to accounting laws and regulations; verifies calculations and ensures accuracy and validity of transactions.
All other duties as assigned.*Requisite Qualifications, Education, and Credentials:
Bachelors degree in a business-related field (accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field) from an accredited college or university.
Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in accounting, with an emphasis in Accounts Payable.
*Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of generally accepted professional accounting and auditing principles and practices
Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of governmental accounting and auditing
Knowledge of database principles and/or computerized applications
Ability to analyze and interpret accounting records for accuracy and completeness
Strong supervisory and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
Effective oral and written communication skills

*Working Conditions (Physical/Mental Demands, and Environmental Factors): Extended time spent on computer requiring prolonged sitting during work hours
