    Job Description1st MidAmerica Credit UnionJob DescriptionPayroll SpecialistRole: Responsible for carrying out payroll in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws, ensuring payroll processing is implemented accurately and timely. Maintain confidential employee payroll records and HRIS system and provide professional and informed services to leadership and team members. Provide necessary payroll reports.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    Maintains the Human Resource database (HRIS) to include payroll and team member information.

    Process and audit payroll to ensure overall accuracy and any data changes such as:
    salary increases, staffing changes, payroll adjustments, benefit contributions and payroll deductions and incentives. Responsible for calculating and verifying other departmental data requirements as necessary.

    Creates and maintains HRIS data and reporting capabilities such as status reports, compensation analysis reports and termination reports, etc. Update and maintain monthly statistics reports, various annual reports and year-end HR reporting. Prepares data and participates in annual internal and external departmental audits as assigned.

    Manage time off accruals for all employees through the HRIS system.

    Assists in the research and production of annual departmental budgets. Recommends changes or additions to programs to reflect organizational changes or needs. Tracks budget progress and variances throughout the year. Balance general ledgers for payroll expenses.

    Other duties as assigned to support the HR Department

    Performance Measurements:1.Provide informed, professional, accurate service and support to team members and leadership staff by responding to questions or concerns in timely manner.2.Ensure compliance with organizational policies and all relevant state and federal regulations.3.Process payroll with 100% accuracy and in a timely manner.4.Ensure salary increase calculations are error free and processed in a timely manner.5.Maintain the human resource database, including payroll information with zero unresolved errors.6.Develop recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancements to processes, products, and pricing impacting the HR department by monitoring relevant trends.7.Process all assigned reports in a timely manner with zero unreolved errors.8.Maintain an understanding of applicable regulations including DOL, EEOC, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA and other applicable Human Resources laws and regulations.

    Knowledge and Skills:ExperienceMinimum 2 years related Human Resources Experience, with payroll and HRIS System experience.

    Education(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

    Interpersonal SkillsWork involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level.

    Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

    Other SkillsAdvanced skills with MS Office programs (Word/Excel/Powerpoint/OneNote).
    Experience working within an HRIS system and working knowledge of system administration process required.
    Current knowledge of HR best practices highly desired.
    Sound technical skills with understanding of data integrity protocols and data reconciliation.
    Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize office needs and task effectively.
    Scheduling flexibility that allows working additional hours as needed.
    Demonstates highest level of professional and ethical conduct, maintains confidentiality.
