    Design Corps Fellowship Youth Outreach Coordinator


    Prism Design Lab is a design education non-profit organization that works with youth in Durham-Chapel Hill, NC to imagine the beauty they want to see in the world, and to give them a platform from which to project their vision.

    Prism equips youth from historically marginalized communities with the tools they need to shape their built environment by teaching them design skills and giving them opportunities to practice and cultivate these skills.

    Prism works to achieve these goals through an intensely local program of education and community building.

    The programs target young people and include a variety of components focused on supporting participants to (i) connect to their creativity and (ii) get exposure to, and to begin to practice, the skills required for the fields of architecture, art and design.

    Prism offers programming with partnerships in Durham and Chapel Hill, NC. Staff works from an office in Chapel Hill.

    The two cities are in the Triangle region of NC - a hub of universities, research institutions, arts and entertainment.

    The area boasts a high quality of living with diverse city life, balanced with opportunities for outdoor recreation.

    This position is one of three current Design Corps Fellowships which is a program that places talented energetic people with skills in positions to use them to work with marginalized communities in need of them.

    Member Duties :

    The Outreach Coordinator will: - Coordinate design professionals, counselors, and volunteers to work with youth during workshops and camps.

    - Seek and coordinate funding to support VISTA specific programming. - Build and/or maintain relationships with partners and ally organizations.

    - Document Prism programming and create content that communicates the organization - Attend one conference to support research within the field and for their own professional development and networking.


    The ideal candidate will have:
    1. The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, ages, disciplines, and professions. 2.

    A background in one of the following:
    architecture, design, education, non-profit or non-governmental organizations. 3. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 4. Skilled with fundraising and grant writing. 5. Skilled associated with graphic design and website/digital content design.
