    Length: 6-8 month contract depending on performance, attendance and business needs
    Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm. Monday through Friday
    100% onsite / on campus

    Must haves:

    • AA/AS/BA/BS degree and 2-4 years of related experience with in an accounting field
    • Must have previous experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Oracle Financials - Project Accounting
    • Must be able to pass a background

    Generic Scope
    Professional who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.

    Custom Scope
    Uses professional accounting concepts. Completes accounting assignments that are of moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors and multiple sources. Exercises judgment within defined accounting procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Has internal and external contact on a regular basis. Applies policies and procedures to resolve a variety of accounting issues.

    Position Custom Scope
    The Extramural Funds Accountant position will perform post-award administration primarily related to private grants. Responsibilities include, billing, and accounting duties as they relate to award terms and conditions. The incumbent provides assistance to departmental analysts on transactional processing and post award administration of contract and grants.

    Key Responsibilities
    Invoices sponsors according to terms and conditions of award. Ensures follow-up action is taken with the sponsor and where applicable with the appropriate campus department. This task requires persistence and coordination with sponsors, campus departments, and principal investigators.
    Audits the Facilities & Administration (i.e., overhead) assessments made to awards, verifying exclusions, and calculations.
    Reconcile Project Cost reports to billing. Pull back-up when required. Transfer bill information into sponsor templates where required.
    Interprets reports and records for administrators and managers.
    Advises and assists departments with various questions and issues related to contracts and grants post-award administration.

    Knowledge/Skill/Ability

    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and complete multiple projects with overlapping timelines.

    • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of billing and receivables processes.

    • Working knowledge of common desktop/web applications.

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing.

    • Skill in providing superior customer service and maintaining equanimity when conflict arises.

    • Working knowledge of financial transactions and financial systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements.

    • Demonstrated experience reviewing and reconciling ledgers and researching/resolving issues and problems.

    • Successful experience in exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to reach solutions.

    • Knowledge of accounting function and assignments.

    • Knowledge of analytical procedures used in accounting projects of moderate scope

    • Keen eye for detail to ensure correct coding of data and to discern data anomalies, as well as performing mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.

    • Successful experience interpreting and applying complex policy.

    • Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining collegial and effective working relationships.

    • Ability to apply more advanced accounting concepts to complete work assignments.

    • Experience in the field of contract and grant fiscal administration with knowledge of Uniform Guidance.

    • Demonstrated experience in accounting for contracts & grants and post award administration experience, as well as interpreting contractual agreement terms and conditions.

    • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel.
