    Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Utility-Scale Solar Estimator. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in accurately assessing and estimating project costs for utility-scale solar installations. The Utility-Scale Solar Estimator will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure precision in material and labor cost calculations, contribute to strategic decision-making, and uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Execute precise development of material and equipment take-offs from prints and data.
    • Develop accurate labor cost take-offs with attention to detail.
    • Generate detailed subcontractor take-offs from prints.
    • Effectively communicate job timing, quantities, equipment needs, and material pickup locations to relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensure the delivery of high-quality customer service throughout project interactions.
    • Identify project phases or components suitable for subcontracting, and secure and validate quotes accordingly.
    • Conduct a thorough examination of material specifications with various manufacturers and suppliers to secure optimal pricing when necessary.
    • Consolidate data from take-off sheets accurately into the appropriate software programs.
    • Develop cost estimates promptly, aligning with the Chief Estimator's established timeframe.
    • Provide assistance to Project Managers in the development of Change Orders.
    • Generate bids and change orders, accurately inputting estimated cost data into the job costing program.
    • Engage in minor engineering and specification writing related to estimates and change orders within agreed-upon scopes.
    • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and proficiency in estimating and job costing computer systems, with a preference for Accubid experience.
    • Proactively seek new business opportunities.
    • Review Job Cost Summary Reports, evaluating the profitability of completed projects.
    • Achieve assigned sales and bid gross profit goals.
    • Maintain the CVE Bid Tracking Log, recording bid results systematically.

    Requirements:

    Education:

    • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

    Experience:

    • Preferred: Extensive experience in the commercial electrical contracting industry.
    • Required: 2 to 3 years of experience in commercial electrical contracting estimating.

    Skills:

    • Ability to work collaboratively, negotiate effectively, analyze problems, and translate company goals into actionable steps.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work closely with diverse groups, including company employees at all levels, area contractors, owners, suppliers, and other external professionals the company interacts with regularly.
