Overview

The organization is seeking a
Cybersecurity Architect
to serve as a bridge between IT, engineering, product teams, and cybersecurity functions. This role focuses on evaluating, designing, and guiding the implementation of secure technology solutions across enterprise environments, including on‑premises, hybrid, SaaS, and cloud (where applicable). The architect will translate business objectives and regulatory requirements into clear security architectures, standards, and reusable patterns that delivery teams can implement. This position also functions as a technical leader and subject matter expert in cybersecurity technologies and architecture.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted cybersecurity architecture SME, aligning security solutions with organizational strategy, business outcomes, and overall risk posture.

• Collaborate with business, IT, and security stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable architecture guidance, control objectives, and design recommendations.

• Evaluate technical feasibility and architectural tradeoffs to ensure proposed solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards.

• Develop, maintain, and own enterprise security reference architectures, secure design patterns, and guardrails for major cybersecurity domains (identity, network security, endpoint and workload protection, application security, data protection, logging, monitoring, and secure remote access).

• Establish and govern security architecture principles grounded in recognized engineering practices such as least privilege, defense‑in‑depth, segmentation, and secure‑by‑design.

• Conduct architecture and design reviews for new initiatives or major technology changes. Document decisions, assumptions, risks, compensating controls, and recommended remediation actions.

• Define measurable and testable security requirements for platforms, services, and systems, ensuring they are traceable through implementation.

• Partner with cybersecurity technology and engineering teams to shape roadmaps and prioritize capability enhancements based on threat landscape, business goals, and architectural gaps.

• Build strong relationships with leadership and stakeholders, advising on when and how to engage architecture to ensure secure and timely delivery of business outcomes.

• Develop and maintain documentation such as standards, design patterns, diagrams, and architecture decision records.

• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineering and cybersecurity teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in information technology, information security, or cybersecurity.

• Experience designing enterprise‑scale security architectures (identity, segmentation, data protection, monitoring, etc.).

• Working knowledge of controls and technologies including IAM, MFA, encryption, logging and monitoring, vulnerability management, and endpoint/workload protection.

• Experience working with engineering and infrastructure teams to deliver secure solutions in iterative or agile environments.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

• Ability to produce high‑quality architecture artifacts such as reference architectures, standards, design patterns, and risk decision records.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline.

• 3+ years of cloud cybersecurity experience.

• Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.

• Experience designing cloud security architectures.

• Experience acting as a technical leader or mentor.

• Experience securing hybrid environments (on‑premises, cloud, SaaS), including identity boundaries, segmentation, and secure connectivity.

• Familiarity with secure SDLC and DevSecOps tools and practices (code scanning, dependency scanning, configuration validation, CI/CD controls).

• Knowledge of Zero Trust principles, identity governance, privileged access management (PAM), and strong authentication strategies.

• Experience defining logging/telemetry requirements and partnering with SOC/SIEM teams to develop detections and response playbooks.

• Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, or ISO 27001, and experience supporting audits or compliance efforts.

• Strong ability to influence without authority and drive adoption of security standards through enablement, reusable patterns, and practical guardrails.
