- Support the department manager/supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the surgical pathology area to ensure accuracy and efficiency of services.
- Execute all authorized duties/responsibilities as directed by the laboratory director/technical supervisor.
- Conduct gross examination and dissection of complex specimens for Histologic processing, providing guidance to staff and assisting with training.
- Orient, train, and assess new grossing staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Interact with pathologists on dissection activities and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Monitor workflow, identify problems, and recommend workflow changes as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality control, and regulatory standards.
- Follow applicable procedures and participate in continuing education requirements.
- Perform other assigned duties by the supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree
- Meet all requirements for performing gross tissue examinations and current state licensure.
- Masters Degree
- 1 year of surgical gross experience and completion of an approved pathologist assistant training program.
