    Description

    The High School Social Studies Educator plays a vital role in inspiring and guiding students through their academic journey. This position focuses on coaching, motivating, and instructing high school learners while paying special attention to their Individual Graduation Plans (IGP). All courses are aligned with state standards and designed to encourage student engagement and facilitate credit accumulation through a mastery-based educational approach. In this dynamic environment, the educator acts as both coach and mentor, committed to the success of each student.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create a student-centered learning environment that emphasizes high accountability in reading and aligns with academic goals.
    • Lead the classroom by showcasing a strong understanding of effective reading practices and tailored instructional techniques.
    • Track, analyze, and maintain student progress, including benchmarks and records in compliance with District and state guidelines.
    • Collaborate professionally with colleagues to develop and implement educational strategies that cater to individual student needs and align with school objectives.
    • Engage in professional development activities to uphold certification and credentials relevant to the role.
    • Contribute to initiatives aimed at meeting enrollment and attendance targets.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned to support educational outcomes in line with company policies and objectives.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Understanding of secondary education principles.
    • Familiarity with curriculum and instructional theories.
    • Ability to analyze data effectively for program improvement.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in social science, social studies, history, political science, geography, philosophy, sociology, economics, or psychology.
    • Teacher Certification or Statement of Eligibility in Social Science 6-12.
    • A minimum of one year of high school teaching experience.
    • Experience or ability to work with at-risk and over-age youth is preferred.
