    Nevada Public Radio's Finance Director carries out all operations of the Accounting and Finance functions, financial strategy and planning of the organization.

    The Finance Director serves as a member of the Senior Management and works closely with the CEO to ensure the organization's financial stability.

    This includes coordinating, developing and executing the annual budget.
    This position reports to the CEO.
    Duties and Essential Job Functions

    Manage the accounting staff to operate the business of the organization including but not limited to: full cycle accounting in a compliance with GAAP, preparation of financial statements, cash management, A/R, A/P, finance, investments, insurance, cash flow and P&L analysis.

    Prepare and manage the annual Budget Plan in coordination with all department managers and CEO.
    Prepare monthly financial statements for management. Prepare financial statements for review by an independent audit firm and publish final financial statements for public view.
    Prepare all financial analysis as directed by the Board of Directors and CEO.

    Prepare and execute financial modeling and comparative reporting on a monthly basis for the Board of Director meetings, as well as accurate, relevant and timely reporting for use by executive staff and management when making business decisions.

    Work with the audit firm to plan, prepare for and carry out the annual independent audit.
    Prepare annual reporting to federal and state government agencies to ensure receipt of grant funding from these sources.

    Work with the CEO and other senior management to prepare and submit annual and biannual grant applications, tracking, and compliance.

    Develop, implement and review all financial internal controls that safeguard the assets of the organization and protects the organization against fraud and theft.

    Develop, implement and review all financial and internal control processes that directs staff in procedures to follow in relation to all revenue and expense and assets.

    Manage all financial business accounts, including but not limited to: banks, investments, credit cards, and loans.
    Serve as the staff liaison for the Finance and Investment committees of the NVPR Board of Directors.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    This position will be evaluated based on demonstrating the following knowledge, skills & abilities in carrying out all the duties assigned:

    Possess strong accounting, finance and management skills; able to read, review and analyze financial and/or contract language efficiently and effectively.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; must be proficient in Sage Intacct and other financial and regulatory systems, able to develop multiple reporting templates.

    Demonstrate effective written and oral communication, interpersonal, presentation, negotiation and investigative skills.
    Effectively present information to staff, senior management, the Board of Directors and/or public groups.

    Ability to work with deadlines and possess quality time-management skills; adept at fast paced environment and multi-tasking with focused approach.

    Ability to deal professionally with regulatory agencies and vendors.

    Change/Adaptability/Flexibility – adapts to change – is open to new ideas – takes on new responsibilities – handles pressure – adjusts plans to meet changing needs.

    Collaboration – works collaboratively with others to solve problems and achieve common goals – listens to others and values diverse opinions – is open with team members and expresses disagreements constructively.

    Requirements
    Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required.
    5-10 years' experience, preferably working in non-profit, broadcast environment.
    3-5 years' management experience working at a supervisory level.
    Working knowledge of all business and finance operations of a public media organization preferred.

    Understanding of full-cycle accounting in compliance with GAAP, budgeting, cash management, payroll, financial statements, A/R, A/P, payroll, capital campaign management, investments, debt management, policies and procedures, FCC and other regulatory compliance, grant management, and fundraising.

    Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software preferred.
    Experience with Paylocity preferred.
    Flexibility to work longer hours and weekends, as business needs dictate
    Physical Demands
    Ability to verbally communicate with top management and coworkers is crucial. Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential. Being able to inspect documents, spreadsheets, etc., is imperative.

    The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the office occasionally (accessing files/storage, office equipment, computers and other office productivity devices, attending meetings, etc.) including the ability to reach with hands and arms.

    No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., picking up and carrying binders, laptops) may be required. Good manual dexterity required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, calculators, copiers, scanners)
    This job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Extended periods of sitting while using a computer or other devices are common.
