    Role Overview

    We're looking for an exceptional accountant to join our team. As an accountant, you will play a crucial role in delivering financial insights to our leadership team through meticulous analysis of accounting data and thorough preparation of reports. You will not only be responsible for recording day-to-day financial transactions, but also analyzing and reviewing these transactions in order to identify any potential risks or irregularities. This includes conducting in-depth investigations, implementing effective corrective measures, and maintaining comprehensive records of all financial activities. Our ideal candidate is meticulous, analytical, and possesses a deep understanding of accounting principles.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare accurate and detailed financial statements and reports by meticulously collecting, rigorously analyzing, and comprehensively summarizing account information.
    • Ensure strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations by continuously monitoring and diligently maintaining precise financial records.
    • Efficiently manage all day-to-day financial transactions, including handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll responsibilities with utmost precision and care.
    • Resolve any financial discrepancies by diligently collecting and meticulously analyzing all pertinent account information, ensuring all accounts are fully reconciled.
    • Provide invaluable support for month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial activities are accurately accounted for and properly closed.
    • Play a vital role in budgeting and forecasting activities, assisting in creating comprehensive budgets and accurate financial forecasts.
    • Monitor cash flow and create cash forecasts
    • Post client remittances made by check and EFT
    • Download company credit card transactions from website and code to G/L according to supporting documentation from applicable team members
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
    • Maintain client contracts and subcontractor/provider agreements
    • Create journal entries for prepaid expense amortization, accrued expenses and recognition of depreciation of fixed assets

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus
    • Proven work experience as an accountant
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and budgeting processes
    • Proficient in the use of Google Workspace (or similar) and financial management software (e.g. Quickbooks, )
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
    • Demonstrates excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize ideas and data clearly and concisely in a persuasive, organized, and appropriate manner to both finance and non-finance business leaders
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Based in Chicago with both in-office and remote work
