    Default job background
    Description

The Director of Development at Rocky Mountain Children's Health Foundation (RMCHF) plays a vital role in the organization's fundraising and development efforts.

As a member of the Senior Leadership team, they lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive, strategic fundraising program that supports our organization's operations and growth.

Their leadership drives all areas of fundraising, including major and planned gifts, annual fund, donor stewardship (moves management), grants, special events, special campaigns, and in-kind support.

This position requires someone who thinks strategically, manages relationships effectively, and can both see the big picture and track the small details.

Their leadership will play a critical role in shaping our organization's future as we continue to grow and evolve.

Work for an organization with heart: Rocky Mountain Children's Health Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on children and families.

Through our work both directly with families and through medical professionals, we provide much-needed relief and comfort for sick children and infants.

Whether it's a newborn in need of donor human milk to thrive, a child with a serious illness looking for the companionship of a furry friend, or a family who needs to buy gas to visit their child in the hospital, we are there for them when and how they need it most.

    Responsibilities:
    Strategic Development Planning

Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including plans for individual donations, corporate partnerships, events, grants, major gifts, and other funding sources.

Develop annual and multi-year fundraising plans and budgets, working with senior leadership to identify needs and align the fundraising strategy to support them.

Provide strategic leadership that drives all fundraising activities, including monthly giving, individual solicitation, corporate partnerships, annual and multi-year campaign planning, and planned giving.

Stay informed about development best practices and incorporate into all activities.

    Annual Fundraising

Achieve annual fundraising goals of $1.5M+.
Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, with the goal of raising five- and six-figure gifts.
Identify, cultivate, and solicit new donors, especially major gift prospects, working closely with the Executive Director.
Represent RMCHF at events and networking opportunities to connect with potential donors.
Solicit in-kind donations and event sponsorships as needed.
Ensure participation in key fundraising activities, including Colorado Gives Day.

Oversee all fundraising events and activities, including our annual gala, small donor engagements, community events, and third-party events, working closely with the Events & Fundraising Manager.

Manage our grant program, including identification of potential partners, evaluating grant alignment, coordinating compliance requirements, reviewing, and approving necessary reports, and maintaining relationships with grant funders.

Collaborate with the communications team to create development materials, including print and digital collateral, direct mail, special campaigns, newsletters, and more.

Ensure fundraising best practices are reflected in all materials.

    Donor Stewardship

Develop and implement year-round donor stewardship plans with a focus on meaningful engagement, diversity of engagement opportunities, and personal connections.

Manage donor stewardship activities, providing high-touch, prompt communications with donors and partners.
Expand and oversee donor recognition program centered on authentic gratitude and demonstration of impact.

    Fundraising Administration

Oversee administration of all fundraising activities, including donation tracking and processing and database administration (Raiser's Edge & RENXT). Ensure fundraising and donor data is appropriately stored and updated in Raiser's Edge.

Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all fundraising activities, working closely with the entire development and communications teams to ensure effective utilization of tools, consistent processes, and clear communication.

Generate reports and updates for internal and external constituents, as needed, with close collaboration with the finance team.
Manage the development team, including our Events & Fundraising Manager.

Supervise members of the development team, including major gifts officer and development coordinator.
Other duties as assigned or necessary to accomplish fundraising goals.

    What We're Looking For:
At least 5-7 years of fundraising experience.

Successful track record developing and cultivating donors and relationships among multiple community stakeholders with an emphasis on gifts of $25,000 or greater.

Proven success in designing, implementing and leading a strategic development plan.
Demonstrated ability to successfully secure grant funding and event sponsorships.
Experience planning and executing fundraising events.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including managing a team.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently, manage time, and problem solve.
Ability to be self-directed, work well under pressure, be detail oriented and multitask.

Aptitude for data and information software and other technologies designed to support fundraising, events, constituent relations and sales activities, including Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Benefits and Rewards:
Salaried position. Salary range $85,000-100,000/year commensurate with experience
Opportunity for hybrid work schedule 1- 2 days working from home
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
    401K with employer match
Additional benefits, including short-term disability, life insurance, and long-term disability and accident insurance
    Opportunity for an annual bonus

    Working Environment:
Rocky Mountain Children's Health Foundation is a collaborative, team-oriented organization with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and RMCHF policies and procedures.
