Metro Mobility is a technology and engineering company with a focus on alternative transportation and light electric vehicles. Our Park & Pedal program ) offers a novel form of electric bike share with a focus on multimodal commuting. By getting car commuters out of their cars and onto electric bikes for the last and most polluting segment of their journey, we can drastically reduce carbon dioxide emissions in metropolitan areas. In the US, transportation emits more CO2 per year than any other sector, with most emissions coming from small passenger vehicles. Join our team to have a real impact on the future of our planet and climate.
We are looking for help in our operations division to maintain our fleet of e-bikes in the Boston area, provide services and communicating to current and potential e-bike users, and engage with community partners. Start and end dates are flexible, but our target timeline is roughly May 18th to August 28th. Full Time , Monday thru Friday at our Cambridge MA office and Medford MA operations warehouse.
Requirements
We are seeking applicants with strong communication skills. Passion for cycling and a proactive problem-solving attitude are important. Our e-bike fleet consists of shared vehicles available for rent from Metro Mobility charging stations as well as e-bikes owned by individuals participating in state sponsored e-bike programs. The fleet is IOT and GPS connected so strong computer skills are preferred. General bike knowledge preferred. We will train for bike and e-bike maintenance.
The Operations and Community Engagement Intern will assist in all aspects of fleet management including:
- Operational functions including deployment of e-bikes and maintenance of bicycles and stations
- Diagnosis and Repair:Troubleshooting and fixing mechanical problems like flat tires, out-of-true wheels, brake adjustments, and drivetrain issues. Also, servicing the drive system, including motors, batteries, controllers, and wiring
- Installation of new e-bike charging stations and maintenance of stations currently in use.
- Communication and customer service to e-bike users incl. repairs at various locations in greater Boston
- Program outreach and marketing to new potential participants
- Coordination with municipal and community partners
- Tracking and management of inventory, incl. bicycles, accessories, and tools
Other requirements:
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record
Location
Our office is located on Cambridge St in Cambridge, MA. This role will entail travel in the greater Boston area.
Pays $18/hr paid biweekly
