    Class B CDL Driver

    Tracking Code Job Description

    Drives delivery vehicle and/or truck-trailer combination to transport material to customer sites. CDL driver operates vehicle weighing 26,000 lbs. or greater GVWR; vehicle 26,000 lbs. or greater towing a trailer that may exceed 10,000 lbs.

    Assists customers with unloading material safely and accurately, taking precautions to protect product and customer property.

    Required to use a hand-held device, except while driving, to ensure compliance with DVIR and HOS.

    Verifies order details and maintain log of deliveries, including amounts and/or weights, mileage and locations of deliveries. Check items against invoice to ensure accuracy of order.

    Acts as customer service liaison. Handles customer concerns and helps to resolve issues as they arise.

    Maintains service logs and pre/post trip inspection procedures.

    Requirements: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), 21+ years of age, a valid Class A CDL license. A minimum of one (1) year of driving experience. Two (2) years CDL driving experience preferred. Must be able to pass MVR report and obtain a DOT medical card. Forklift certification

    **Major Responsibilities:**

    Maintains a current Class A or B Commercial Drivers License as required.

    Prepares DOT required log of time on duty and driving.

    Organizes and secures load.

    Assists forklift operators when loading.

    Accounts for all company funds, such as C.O.D.s.

    Checks orders for accuracy.

    Delivers and unloads materials to customers satisfaction.

    Completes daily equipment pre-inspection.

    Records all merchandise that is returned by truck, assists in unloading material returned for credit.

    Follows guidelines established by the Department of Transportation.

    Operates all trucks in safe and efficient manner, maintains records regarding equipment use and time charged.

    Logs in deliveries using handheld device.

    Waits on customers while truck is being loaded.

    Relays messages sent by customers while on job.

    Assists supervisor, other associates and other work areas, as assigned.

    Assists in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    Ability to do arithmetic, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.

    Communicate with customers, other associates and supervisors using verbal and written skills and use safe lifting techniques.

    Must be able to:

    Lift 65 pounds from ground level to standing position, 20 pounds, including the ability to lift above the head.

    Pull 20 pounds from a standing position, from various levels, including the ability to lift above the head.

    Pull 20 pounds from a kneeling position, from various level, including the ability to lift above the head.

    Stand and/or walk for an 8-10 hour shift.

    Frequently bend and stoop during an 8-10 hour shift.

    Clean driving record and current operators license.

    Temperatures will vary.

    Dusty and noisy environment when operating machines and tools.

    Ear protection required when exposed to noise for an extended period of time.

    Eye protection and steel toed (safety toed) hard sole leather boots required at all times.

    Overtime work could be involved.

    Required Experience

    12 months CDL experience including lumber dumping.

    Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.

    Will accept Military experience in lieu of civilian experience. Must have an Army MOS of 88M, 12N, or 92FT. Air Force Specialty Code of 2T1X1. Marines and Navy MOS of 3531, 3537, 3502 or 0811, 0844, 0861.

    A military skill waiver with proper certifications may also be accepted with proper documentation and chain of command approval.
