    Assistant Terminal Manager - Lakeville NY

    This is a full time, exempt position

    Position Summary:

    Administers policies and procedures through terminal employees in terminals, coordinating such activities to insure that products are processed and distributed on schedule, and within quality standards and cost objectives.
    Job Responsibilities:
    • Directs the repackaging and distribution of company products at the lowest cost consistent with established standards of quality and quantity
    • Develops and monitors schedules to insure that completed products are shipped on time, and in accordance with customer expectations.
    • Initiates cost improvements and process procedures to most effectively meet terminal objectives.
    • Approves major purchases of supplies and equipment required for the efficient operation of a terminal.
    • Provides for preventive maintenance schedules and repairs through the Maintenance Mechanic, insuring that terminal facilities, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in appropriate operating condition to meet packaging and shipping requirements. Insures that fleet equipment is properly maintained.
    • Tracks Drivers' hours to insure legal compliance with DOT, state, and federal regulations. (if applicable)
    • Insures that all approved safety procedures and terminal policies are observed by employees, and provides such direction through the Assistant Terminal Manager.
    • Identifies training needs, and may participate in presenting such training.
    • Reviews and approves recommendations of subordinate managers concerning rate changes, and participates in the formulation of terminal policies which affect employees.
    • Maintain strong working relationship with all trucking companies at the terminal. Regular meetings should be held.
    • Performs required duties as outlined in annual Safety Action Plan.
    • Maintains an awareness of inventory levels to insure that such are maintained within the limits of established policy.
    • Supports and administers approved company policies, and clearly communicates new policies and objectives to all terminal employees.
    • Supports, administers, and completes all required action items as set by the ADM COE's. (Quality, Safety, Environmental, Etc.)
    • Investigates the means by which terminal procedures can be improved, and initiates improvements in the efficiency of terminal operations.
    • Performs reasonably similar or related duties that may be required for the successful administration of the function.
    Food Safety Requirements:
    • Stays current with HACCP requirements.
    • Understands what pre-requisite programs are and enforces said programs
    • Understands the critical food safety steps in the process and their effect on the customer.
    Job Requirements:
    • Ability to climb stairs, perform some lifting, work with heights, bend, kneel, and operate equipment safely.
    • Ability to work on multiple tasks
    • Ensure plant complies with all Safety, Environmental, and Quality guidelines
    • Previous experience with food processing desirable
    • Experience with GFSI compliance
    • Interact with other departments to ensure that company policies are maintained
    • Train and develop new skills in production level employees
    • Supervise plant employees
    • Ensure production is cost effective
    • Able to meet production deadlines with contract specifications
    • Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
    • Ability to team build
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
    • Inventory management
    • Proficient in all programs of Office, include Word, Access and Excel
    • Excellent written and verbal skills required
    • Communicates effectively with employees at all levels
    • Exposure to high humidity, hot and cold temperatures are possible
    • Ability to bend, reach and crouch
    • Ability to see variations in color,
    • Must have good corrected distance, intermediate and near vision
    • DOT Compliance and logistics experience preferred
    • Ability to Climb Ladders
    • Maintenance experience with pumps and pneumatic systems preferred
