Job Title: Technical Writer and Editor

This position requires a highly skilled technical writer and editor to evaluate the effectiveness of equipment publications, manage contracts, and plan projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing and developing technical manuscripts, reviewing XML in technical publications, and planning and evaluating complex projects.

About the Role:

Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment publications in terms of mission accomplishment, quality, and quantity of standards met, procedural, policy, and regulatory compliance;
Determine and direct contract activities as they relate to scope of work and level of effort required to prepare and maintain all equipment publications to support the weapon/armament/chemical system mission;
Manage, coordinate, and accept or reject equipment publications (in-house or contractor-prepared) and other contractor deliverables for assigned area of responsibility to ensure accomplishment of program objectives;
Monitor all of the weapon/armament/chemical system equipment publications projects for which the contractor is responsible;

Responsibilities:

Plan projects, programs, or studies of a broad complex nature involving the writing of supply bulletins (SBs), technical bulletins (TBs), technical manuals (TMs), modification work orders (MWOs), etc., for weapon/armament/chemical systems;
Perform a task analysis to assure that the maintenance instructions can be used by the target audience;
Direct the necessary research to comply with requests for action in the equipment publications area made by either the contractor or a government agency;
Review and analyze the progress of publications preparation to determine problem areas, assist publications personnel in correcting deficiencies, and establish priorities based on equipment deliveries;
Maintain continuous liaison and working relationship with publications activities to ensure that the most complete, accurate, and adequate publications package is available to support the weapon/armament/chemical system;
Answer inquiries from the field related to publications, expedite review of all publications, and schedule equipment for verification of publications.

Requirements:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which is a condition of employment;
Obtaining and maintaining a secret security clearance is required;
Selectee must meet position requirements for Life Cycle Logistics Level 1 (Foundational) Acquisition Certification within 36 months of entrance on duty;

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $66,208 - $123,663 per year, depending on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.
