The Public Safety Division at Wytheville Community College is comprised of the Police Department and the Office of Emergency Management and has a critical role in supporting the well-being of our community.

Police Officers at Wytheville Community College protect and serve a diverse college community
Responsibilities include:
investigating motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, and criminal matters; enforcement of state laws and college policies; preparation of reports; courtroom testimony; traffic direction and crowd control; response to emergency situations; extended foot patrol; working a rotating shift that may include weekends, nights, and holidays; reporting for duty in adverse weather conditions and/or when the college is otherwise closed ("Emergency Personnel"); and adhering to all criteria established for a Police Department.
Police Officers also perform other duties as requested by supervisor, take initiative to support the best interests of the department and a healthy work environment.
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
