SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under supervision, keeps assigned building area clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly; secures rooms and cleaning stations; does special cleaning. May perform minor maintenance and painting duties. Incumbent performs related duties as required.
During school year, positions may be assigned to early morning, morning, afternoon, evening or night shifts.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, shampoos, and waxes floors, including surfaces of many types; vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets; dusts, waxes, washes and polishes furniture and woodwork, fixtures, shelves, cupboards and counters; cleans walls and blackboards; cleans and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms and showers; fills soap and paper dispenser; washes windows; empties trash and waste cans; and restocks supplies.
Performs minor maintenance such as replacing lights, painting small rooms or trim, removing and/or tagging broken furniture; reports vandalism and items needing repair.
Participates in intensive cleaning and restoration of District buildings during summer vacations and other periods; washes, removes and stacks furniture; washes walls and woodwork; paints interior and exterior walls; strips floors using power equipment; and seals and waxes floors.
May be called upon on off-hours for school emergencies, such as burglaries, vandalism, snow removal, equipment failures, fires, flooding, etc.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education/Experience:
Any combination equivalent to education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
Six (6) months of experience demonstrating reliability, responsibility and good work habits.
Knowledge of:
Reading, writing and basic arithmetic sufficient to perform job duties successfully; and cleaning materials, methods and equipment.
Skill at:
Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions; learning supplies, equipment and prescribed methods of cleaning; performing strenuous physical work; working effectively under time limitations and without immediate supervision; climbing and working from ladders; making simple arithmetic calculations; and developing working relationships with those contacted in course or work.
License/Certifications:
Possession of, or he ability to obtain a valid State of Nevada license with a driving record acceptable to the District,
Special Considerations:
Working under occasional adverse environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, dust and fumes.

New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position.
Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year.
Additional Job Information
This is a 40 hour per week, 260 day position.

Eligible Employees who regularly work 27.5 hours per week or more receive full benefits of the district, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, holiday pay, vacation pay, sick leave, life insurance, and insurance premiums for summer months.
Beginning July 1,2023:
If you are enrolling in our health insurance plan and submit all proper documentation, you should know that there is no waiting period, your medical, dental, vision and life insurance will become effective on your first contracted work day.
All eligible employees also enjoy no state income tax and no Social Security deductions for most positions working 20 hours per week or more.
New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter and will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting. Non-licensed employees will have $58.50 deduction when their fingerprints are completed every five years. Fingerprint fees are subject to change.
Temporary employees working less than 6 months do not receive benefits.
