- Assess all residents/patients admitted with wounds or who develop wounds in-house.
- Determine appropriate treatment for wounds in conjunction with physicians.
- Direct weekly wound rounds with the wound care team, measuring wounds and evaluating treatment effectiveness.
- Update weekly tracking forms for each wound.
- Communicate with physicians when wounds are not responding to treatment.
- Maintain weekly decubiti statistics and distribute them to the wound care team every Monday.
- Provide in-service training to appropriate staff on wound care.
- Perform quarterly Quality Assurance reports to ensure wound care plans are compliant for each resident.
- Observe dressing changes to ensure competency of treatment nurses.
- Provide wound care education to residents and family members as needed.
- Attend in-services on Wound Care to ensure knowledge of current Standards of Practice.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrates potential for competence as a nursing practitioner.
- Possesses knowledge of Wound Care.
- Essential that the employee is present in the facility to perform job functions.
