    The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the Accounting team and maintaining the organization's general ledger.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Manages Accounting team staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
    Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.
    Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    Contract management and reporting; grants and counties
    Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
    Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.

    Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

    Coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
    Produce billings and apply cash receipts for various services provided by Life'sWork
    Processes month end close journal entries
    Review Staff Accountant's journal entries and reconciliations
    Manage audit requests for the annual fiscal and retirement plan audits
    Support CFO with preparation of the organization's annual budget
    Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
    Other duties as assigned


    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
    Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience
    Knowledge of nonprofit accounting preferred, but not required
    Familiarity with the human services field preferred, but not required

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams skills
    Experience using accounting software and maintaining the general ledger
    Strong verbal and written communication skills
    Proactive, takes initiative, researches issues and proposes solutions
    Maintain client, program, and agency information in a confidential manner
    Expected to treat all clients with respect and professionalism
    Maintain and promote a positive culture within the Accounting department and the organization
    Encourage teamwork and professional development for the Accounting team

    Physical Requirements:
    Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.


    Compensation:
    starting at $65,000/year
