    ROLE PURPOSE & CONTRIBUTION:


    The Corporate Controller position is responsible for managing and reporting all aspects of company's combined financial function and serve as a strategic partner on finance and business issues.

    In addition, the Corporate Controller will have a high level of interaction with the VP of Finance – Specialty Products NAM, employees at (Australian parent company), other Business unit accounting staffs, US and Canadian plant accountants and General Managers, and outside constituencies including all auditors, legal, and tax advisors.


    PRINCIPAL OUTCOMES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Models the safe behaviours appropriate for a management representative.
    • Participates in hazard identification, safety interactions in support of SP-NAM goals.

    All roles are required to focus on quality compliance by conducting quality observations, reporting any adverse observations or conditions (inadvertent or malicious), and striving for a culture that prevents quality compliance violations from occurring.

    Comply with all corporate policies and procedures, including the BDIS.

    Functional Responsibilities:

    Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


    The Corporate Controller function will support and coordinate the audit relationships in the USA, all quarterly and annual reporting, internal controls (internal audit), planning and reporting of consolidated USA results in accordance with the timelines established statutorily or by the parent company.

    Leads the tax reporting and filing requirements for the USA and Canadian operations, to include the coordination and preparation of federal and state income tax provisions and coordination of income tax return preparation with outside third-parties as required.

    Manage other non-income tax requirements and corporate registrations for the company, as needed.

    Supports the SP NAM VP of Finance as a strong business partner to establish financial systems strategies, implementation of strategies, measurable targets and tracking tools.

    Provides crisp, clear analysis and meaningful insight to underlying drivers of issues at the USA and SPNAM reporting sites and provide possible solutions.

    Provides analytical support required to evaluate new business opportunities, potential acquisitions, joint ventures and/or other projects on an as-needed basis.

    Places an emphasis on business insight based on analysis and the development of alternatives.

    Needs to be a team player willing to work with operations and other finance departments to achieve overall global financial reporting goals.

    Facilitate monthly review meetings with SP NAM Management and plant management.
    Review non SP NAM Account reconciliations as assigned by Head Office.
    Other finance or accounting-related duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

    Manage and coordinate the accounting functions in support of month-end financial close requirements, including corporate and internal executive reporting for all operations in the US and Canada.

    Prepare monthly journal entries and review those prepared by others, as needed. Interact with other operating departments to validate supporting detail if required.
    Prepare, review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations.
    Reconcile intercompany activity monthly

    Manage IFRS16 lease reporting requirements for the consolidated USA and SPNAM operations, including interpreting accounting guidance and applying to company leases.

    Establish, document, and account for General Reserves related to inventory, insurance, vacation accrual, and other reserves as circumstances require.
    Periodically review processes to ensure proper accounting treatment and valuation of inventories in accordance with policies.
    Research accounting pronouncements for the proper accounting of new issues that may arise. Understand the key differences between IFRS and US GAAP.
    Prepare monthly reports and review those prepared by others. Interact with other operating departments to validate supporting detail.

    Prepare internal and external financial reports (including year-end) to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including oversight of payroll, excise, and property tax filings for multiple counties.

    Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts for the US and Canadian regions.
    Randomly audit workflows to assure accounting transactions are appropriately authorized.
    Assist in the development of monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
    Develop and publish management reports, financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting.
    Assist in internal audit projects in USA and Canada as needed and assigned.

    Coordinate the issuance of new general ledger account codes for the consolidated USA and SPNAM operations in coordination with the parent company and verify the appropriate mapping to the global financial reporting platform.

    Communicate procedural changes to peers, including changes in GL coding, month end timing & accrual issues, and various analysis requirements as needed.

    Oversee and execute special projects as assigned.
    Support business unit accounting personnel as needed.
    Accounts Payable

    Supervise processing of accounts payable transactions for the US and Canada operations, ensuring proper application of three-way match, document retention and applying all discounts allowed.

    Communicate procedural changes to peers, including changes in GL coding, month-end timing & accrual issues, and various analysis requirements as needed.


    ROLE DIMENSIONS:
    Experienced finance manager, comfortable dealing with senior business leaders.
    Successful experience as a financial planner with strong analytical skills – communicate concisely at a high level.
    Must have very good communication skills and be capable of working well with others in a team environment.
    Utilize superior technical financial skills balanced with sound business judgment. Effectively balance financial and operational factors. Quickly analyze complex business problems and develop appropriate solutions in a timely and responsive manner.
    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree in either Finance or Accounting (required)
    Master's Degree in either Finance or Accounting (preferred)

    Experience:
    Minimum of three years in public accounting (preferred)
    Minimum of three years in a manufacturing environment
    Minimum of three years as a financial or accounting manager (preferred)
    Tax provision experience (preferred)

    Skills and Knowledge:
    Ability to interpret financial statements and variances
    Ability to create a safe work environment and culture
    Ability to manage a department
    Technical computer skills; advanced Excel and working knowledge of complex ERP systems
