    Department:

    The Office of Annual Giving generates annual financial support for academic programs, student scholarships, and special campus initiatives. Funds are raised through telephone, direct mail, digital, and micro-campaigns. Annual Giving is responsible for alumni donor participation, which is a campus priority.


    The Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations division is a comprehensive development and alumni relations enterprise with a staff complement of approximately 135 FTE.

    Functional units within Advancement include development/fundraising, alumni relations, donor relations and stewardship, advancement communications, special events, gift processing, research, prospect management, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, information systems and management, and infrastructure services.


    Advancement and Alumni Relation's mission is to build strong, lifelong relationships with George Mason University's alumni and constituents, while matching their philanthropic interests with the university's aspirations and priorities.

    About the Position:


    With oversight from the Director, the Engagement Center Manager coordinates a year-round acquisition, cultivation, and engagement program not only utilizing the Engagement Center (phonathon), but also various other resources available for donor acquisition and retention activities to increase giving among alumni, parents, students, faculty, and staff.

    This position works in a call center with moderate noise levels.


    Responsibilities:

    Manages Engagement Center:
    Manages the day-to-day operations of the Engagement Center through recruiting, training, and oversight of student engagement agents;

    Maintains accurate and timely records using appropriate software and follows George Mason University and GMUF policies and procedures;

    Ensures all donor records are clear, complete, and accurate;

    Provides analysis of overall program to the Director and unit colleagues;

    Implements the strategic solicitation and engagement of alumni, parents, faculty, and staff of the university by managing the execution of annual solicitation messages, segmentation, strategy, ask amounts, and all other aspects involved in project creation and completion through the Engagement Center;

    Monitors overall program and student caller schedule;

    Develops calling schedule based on analysis of past calling;

    Uploads appropriate data to Engagement Center database for student callers;

    Analyzes historical data and current year statistics to include suggestions, recommendations, and solutions to running a more efficient Engagement Center;

    Works with internal and external vendors that perform Annual Support Services for George Mason University, including PhoneIQ, writers, etc;

    Partners with other teams such as Human Resources to ensure the Engagement Center is effectively staffed throughout the calling season;

    Writes scripts for students to use when calling various segments; and

    Enforces Engagement Center's policies and procedures.


    Assist with Seasonal Campaigns:


    Partner with other members of the Annual Giving Team to create strategy, communications tactics, Engagement Center plans, and student advancement ideas in relation to Mason Vision Day (university giving day) and Season of Giving campaigns.

    Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned:

    May be required to take on additional work as needed to ensure smooth operations;

    Handles all space and equipment issues related to the Engagement Center;

    Responds to donor inquiries and concerns as appropriate;

    Seeks out opportunities to improve office operations and make recommendations for their implementation;

    Demonstrates ability to take initiative along with following through on specific requests; and

    Exhibits independence in decision making.


    Required Qualifications:
    Entrepreneurial skills and ability to take ownership of the Engagement Center, utilizing innovation and creativity to advance and improve productivity, participate in discussions, and develop/recommend creative solutions;

    Excellent written communication, and research and organizational skills;

    Proficient in the use of computers and related software, such as Microsoft Office;

    Ability to work effectively with others both in the department and external colleagues; ability to work in autonomous capacity as well as part of a collaborative team environment;

    Ability to learn new software quickly;

    Ability to provide effective follow-up and follow-through regarding individual and team performance; and

    Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Supervisory or leadership experience working directly in a higher education fundraising focused Engagement Center;

    Experience working in an annual giving program;

    Frontline fundraising experience;

    Skill in effective team management;

    Knowledge of PhoneIQ software or similar software; and

    Knowledge of Salesforce, Affinaquest or similar.
