We are a private school on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, currently seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our boys' middle school baseball program as an Assistant Coach. This position involves working closely with a second-year head coach and contributing to the development and success of the team from March 4 to May 23.

Responsibilities:

• Collaboration with Head Coach: Collaborate effectively with the second-year head coach to enhance the overall coaching strategy and contribute to the success of the baseball program.
• Practice and Game Schedule: Lead 2-3 practices and actively participate in games per week, from Monday to Friday. The schedule includes practices starting at 3:15 pm and games at 2:45 pm. Transportation will be provided for games, and site locations may include but are not limited to Randall's Island, Riverside, and Van Cortlandt Park.
• Player Skill Levels: Coach a diverse team consisting of a mix of returners and new players, some of whom may be newer to the sport.
• Team Culture: Prioritize and have experience in building a positive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive learning environment.
• Teaching Intangible Skills: Focus on teaching intangible skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience, in addition to the fundamental baseball skills.
• Coach-Athlete Relationships: Foster positive coach-athlete relationships by demonstrating genuine care for the development and well-being of each player.
• Balance with Head Coach: Provide a good balance to the head coach's focus on teaching technical skills by bringing expertise in cultivating positive team dynamics.

Requirements:

• Availability to meet the team at the school at 3:15 pm for practices and 2:45 pm for games.
• Willingness to travel to various game locations, with transportation provided.
• Passion for baseball and a commitment to helping players grow both athletically and personally.
• Previous coaching experience and knowledge of baseball techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate players.
