Primary Duties and Responsibilities :- Provides nutritional assessment, education and counseling to individuals, groups or the public. - Serves as a resource on nutrition and dietetics to nurses, health educators or other health care providers in the facility. - Recommends nutritional care plans and documents plan and progress in records. Serves as team leader. - Advises clients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparation. - Assesses nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.- Consults with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of client. - Coordinates recipe development and standardization and develops new menus for independent food service operations. - Counsels individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life. - Develops curriculum and prepares manuals, visual aids, course outlines, and other materials used in teaching. - Develops policies for food service or nutritional programs to assist in health promotion and disease control. - Inspects meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and standards of palatability and appearance. - Monitors food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation and quality standards. - Prepares and administers budgets for food, equipment and supplies.
