Job Type Full-timeDescriptionMidwest Scrap Management is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator.This position requires the expert, safe operation of various types of heavy equipment to move, organize, stack, load and unload processed and unprocessed scrap metal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are general responsibilities associated with the position as directed: Operates heavy equipment in compliance with the company operating safety policies and proceduresMoves and positions raw materials and finished components with use of material moving equipmentConducts routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment; maintains accurate records in the form of pre and post shift inspectionsMonitor and maintain all production equipment, i.e.
material handlers, front end wheel loaders, track excavator with shear attachment, semi tractors, rail car mover, skid steer, balers, shears, etc.
Properly follow company and OSHA safety proceduresExpected to report any defects or needed repairs to supervisor immediatelyWilling to cross-train in other positions and assists other employees as neededEnsure a clean, safe and orderly workplace; clean and prepare sites by removing debris and possible hazards.

One locationRequirementsEducation and Experience: The minimum level of education and experience required to perform the job at a satisfactory level.
High school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 3 years previous experience operating heavy equipmentExpert knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principlesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The minimum level of knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job at a satisfactory level.
Ability to adhere to scheduled hours with dependability and consistencyAbility to adapt to a constantly changing landscapeAbility to work well under the pressure of meeting demands and deadlines.
