- Troubleshoot/Diagnose component failure on PCB assemblies
- Introduce new product designs and product improvements to production
- Understand external agency requirements for controls operation and design
- Printed Circuit Board (PCB) schematic design and layout for embedded control systems related to life safety equipment manufacture and installation
- Designs motor drive circuits primarily for brushed and brushless DC motors
- Identify design components and possible alternatives
- Recommend component selection for new and existing designs
- Recommend sources of supply and assist vendors in identifying alternate electronic parts for cost reduction or supply constraints
- Review schematics and PCB layouts to assist with new product development and existing product troubleshooting
- Hands on Prototyping of design concepts and testing of controls to validate design.
- Provide technical advice to other team members
- Analyze and troubleshoot custom automatic door controller operations and communications at the system and hardware level
- Develop hardware prototypes for both internal and consumer electronic devices
- Contribute to maintenance and optimization of existing hardware systems
- Document designs and testing
- Determine test criteria, test methods for assemblies
- Monitor assembly testing, gather data and generate Test reports
- Advises engineering and marketing teams on potential product improvements.
- Reports project status to senior management in a concise and clear manner
- Support field technicians on elevated issues as neededQualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering or alternative technical qualifications
- 10+ years electronics / PCB design experience
- Established history of embedded controller programing capability
- Proficiency with at least one EDA software package (CADint, Altium, Eagle, etc.)
- Analytical problem solver with drive to find solutions
- Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office family of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Familiarity with 3D printing and SolidWorks design software a plus
- Effective written and spoken communications skills
