    ExemptGeneral Definition of WorkThe Applications Support Analyst is responsible for owning and supporting multiple applications within the City, applying system analysis techniques and procedures to determine hardware, software, and system functional specifications while providing friendly, prompt, and accurate service to internal and external customers.

    Interfaces with management and employees at all levels throughout the City. Experience using read/write RDMS scripts and other programming skills to create reports.
    Leads projects for application upgrades and manages application upgrades. Assist level 1 and 2 analysts with project management. Develop APIs using the City's methods and technologies.

    Professionally serve as the administrator and owner of assigned databases and applications.

    Manage and maintain the databases appropriately so that applications are running efficiently and with proper backups25%Serve as the expert on assigned applications and databases; will work with vendors, business unit management, and other identified stakeholders within the city to ensure the product is meeting business needs10%Will be responsible for ensuring the application is aligned with the city's strategic goals and will make recommendations to senior management on application improvements or upgrades.15%Work with Business Systems Analysts to understand business challenges and administrative activities, evaluate user requests, conduct data analysis, and determine the scope of operational and informational needs.

    Thoroughly document the above activities. 10%Function in a project management role for minor to moderate-sized projects.

    Consult with users and technology staff and monitor projects to ensure that system requirements, timetables, and implementation strategies are met.10%Troubleshoot network, workstation, printer, or related software problems related to the assigned applications.

    Log, monitor, and track reported issues and resolutions via the service desk application and change management20%Serve as a vendor liaison, ensuring the fulfillment of support and technical requirements, and reviewing the quality/accuracy of system performance and project deliverables.5%Perform routine maintenance, updates, and upgrades to applications, as necessary.5% Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Fundamental knowledge and experience with underlying technical infrastructure (e.g. networking basics, server and storage basics, end-user computing devices, operating systems)


    The ability to read and/or write Structured Query Language (SQL) in the context of basic data processing and/or database reporting functions Demonstrated skill in the use of one or more standard data processing/reporting tools (e.g.

    MS Excel, Toad, SSMS, SSRS, Crystal Reports or COGNOS) The ability to read, understand, and modify basic HTML, JavaScript, Python, etc. codeDemonstrated skill in basic database administration functions such as backup and restore (e.g.

    in the context of refreshing a test DB from a production DB) Proven ability to apply a logical, systematic troubleshooting approach to resolve problems from both an operational/procedural and technical perspective Fundamental knowledge of and ability to navigate Web Servers (i.e.
